So I lost a bet with a life long buddy of mine for a steak dinner on the strip. My last trip I noticed Smith & Wollensky. I'm basically looking for a nice, reasonably quiet place where we'll have a great meal and enjoy ourselves. Yea or Nae for Smith & Wollensky? Thanks VMBers. :peace::beer:

Haven't been to the Vegas location, but the one in Chicago is excellent.

I was there a couple years ago. It was ok and fairly quiet. Less hustle and bustle compared to the rest of the strip. Certainly didn't blow me away but, wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I was there in January and it was just okay. I didn't choose to go there - it was a company thing with 10 people and that can throw things off at some places with one person wanting a "blue" ribeye and another a well-done filet. I think the quietness will be hit or miss at most places - avoid STK at Cosmo, though. That was the loudest steak house I've ever eaten in! Haha

Personal preference when in Vegas is to avoid the chains for steak houses because you can find those anywhere. Prime at Bellagio and SW at Wynn are excellent. Just ate at Jean Georges in Aria and that was pretty good - nice atmosphere inside. In all honesty, most every casino steak house is going to be really good. The only BAD steak house experience we've had was at Switch at Encore, but that was because they were closing in a week and I'm pretty sure the dishwasher was cooking at that point.

That was stated about as well as I've ever seen on here and I know many agree with you, though many absolutely "freak out" at the inkling of walking into any chain-restaurant in Las Vegas, but really get their shorts in a knot over a steakhouse.

I've eaten at the one in Chicago a couple times and the one on the strip multiple times as well. IMHO, it's a perfect place to pay-off a steak dinner bet Mike... it's not like you're slumming at Sizzler, but you're not gonna need to take out a second on you home to cover the meal either.

Cool. Thanks for the confirmation. Hopefully we can get a table with a decent view of the strip.
