Last Thursday I called and spoke to a host about some comp nights for a trip coming up in April.

Wish I had of gotten a name but I did not. Said he would call me back later in the day or at the latest the next morning.

So as of today I still have heard nothing.

I called 3x today (between 2 and 5 pm eastern) to try and follow up and got a message saying "please call back" click.

    No wonder they are struggling

    Vented - feel better now.

Even my host won't give me the time of day if I'm calling about a trip in freaking April...

Hosts work week to week. He's probably got 5 fires to put out for this weekend.

Give him some time to get back to you. A week or 2 is not unreasonable.

Hear what you are saying but he said "I'll be back with you by end of day - tomorrow at the latest" not ina couple of weeks.

We got a mailer for a free room, free play, and resort credit at SLS in September. The mailer said to call our host. We never had a host. We called and were told our host passed away. They then passed us to the front desk where they took care of us. SLS rooms are really nice. Small, but really nice. Very modern. Think we counted about 18 people in the casino at 10:30pm on a Monday night.

Damn, really? Any Tunica casino has more than that on 10:30p on a Monday. And Tunica is reeling. My go to casino there still usually has about 10 people by 4 am.

SLS must really be bleeding money.

I've been there a few times weekdays and week nights. It's always been exceedingly dead. Too bad, nice property, great food options but no vibe at all. Sorry to hear the hosts aren't following up. Maybe they've cut back in that area and the surviving hosts are putting out fires left and right as Shifter alluded. Hope they make it, but at this point I think their survival, or lack thereof, is mainly linked to forces outside their control. There's a lot of construction on that end of the strip that could help but, alas, it is a long way from being completed.

I've been out of the loop for a while and I'm now planning my next Vegas trip. I know nothing about SLS other than the pictures look nice and the price is inexpensive($567/person including flight from PA). If I'm taking some Vegas virgins this time, is this a good choice? As a low roller, I'm not concerned with call-backs from my host obviously. Any insight would help. Other places I'm considering for around the same price are Luxor, Bally's, Flamingo, and Mirage. I've been to Vegas 13x and can navigate my way around well. Just have no idea about this place.

I really like the place but it's always dead. Really dead. It might do ok once RW is open if it can bleed cash that long.

I would not stay here with vegas virgins, its too far from anything to make it unique.
I have stayed here 3x, last time was January. I have a trip report about it.

The comps are not that great, but they often give feelers. It is a modern space with a modern casino, and nice dealers/pit folk. It just doesn't have much of a vegas "vibe"
The place has a better casino than flamingo, ballys, luxor, for the mid level player. But id rather stay mid strip at Ballys unless you just want to gamble all day and night or cab a lot.

    casino compared to above
    - less smoke
    - 3:2 blackjack at 10 dollars, with split x 4. surrender. double on any 2
    - the high limit areas are decent and bright

My wife and I enjoy going to SLS once a month. Yes, it's quiet during the week. We don't find that to be a problem. We get excellent service from the staff. It's the overall vibe and the restaurants that draw us (particularly Bazaar Meat). And, it's an excellent jumping off point (or starting point) for the Monorail.

It can be a graveyard during the week but SLS on a weekend is actually pretty cool. They do good business with the LA crowd. Also, I love the sportsbook that they have in that burger bar. Lots of tvs, cheap drinks, good food.

I had a great time there (won $600 playing craps). Their nightclub was good, too. Of course, this was on a Saturday.

Empty casino doesn't necessarily mean the hosts are idling.
More than likely they are busy looking for their next job.
