So you approach a bank of 4 machines, each with different Mini and Maxi jackpots...

    Lets say:
    Maxi A - $415.34
    Maxi B - $734.21
    Maxi C - $631.35
    Maxi D - $207.83

Does this influence the machine you play on, I personally would pick machine B - my logic is that it is good odds to pay out its Maxi sooner than the rest.

Does anyone else share this strategy, does it work?

The strategy works, but your logic is flawed IMO.

The odds are the same for hitting each jackpot. So if you have say a 1/1000 chance of each why not take a shot at the biggest one.

The only change to the strategy may be if these machines were "must hit by $750" then playing B would make sense of course. Also would depend on how much the jackpot incremental each time so there's really not enough info to offer a better opinion. Odds of the jackpot are likely higher than 1/1000 I venture.

I suppose all being equal same type of game etc..., I would chose the biggest one. Like BTA said ,why not take a shot at the biggest one?

+1... I'd go with the largest jackpot as well.

I always pick the largest one, unless it is at the level of a handpay. Always a pain.

Though I pick the largest, there is an argument to pick the lower ones. Maybe the reason it is larger is because it just does not pay. But the others do, hence they get reset. Logic?

At those MGM Lion machines, I haven't had any luck going after the largest jackpot but con't to try on every trip. I did had better luck with the 'middle' of pack jackpot though.

Yes and no. I play Konami progressive machines a lot and it can impact how often you get a jackpot chance and sometimes it doesn't matter where the jackpots are. I am really familiar with Titan 360 and Beat the Field. I am not really familiar with Pirates Loot and Mystical Temple with the treasure chest picking. Also, same with the pirate chest picking that you have a lot of spaces to pick from and if you do pick the right one, you only get 2 bucks. Also I think the ones that have jackpots that randomly hit on your screen like Quick Strike and Zuma, depends on if the jackpot is ready to hit or not. Sometimes I could be playing not even paying attention to the jackpot on those and still hit (example: starts at 10 bucks and hit at 13).

The 2 games I am familiar with, how often the bonus triggers depends on where all the jackpots are at (the Mini, Major, Mega, and Maxi). Beat the Field horse race triggers less when the jackpots are low, but it is really the major, mega, and maxi being high is when the horse race triggers the most. The mini, does not matter where it's at. How often Titan 360's bonus ring wheel triggers depend on how many players are playing at one time (the more players playing, the more it triggers). However, if the mini, major, and maxi are low close to where they start out at, you will more likely get 10's or 20's times your bet level and sometimes get prize upgrades of just $100's or $200's times your bet level. The night before and last night, there were so many prize upgrades at my local casino and most of them were pretty much on the same few stations. Station 4 hit the maxi twice in the 4 hours I was there Friday with the same person on, hit the prize upgrade of $200 x 10 (person was max betting) for $2,000 two times, and station 3 hit the maxi twice with minimum bet. The major also hit once too on a different station. The Mini, that hits often so I am not going to discuss the mini. Even on the horse race, it hits often too. Saturday night, station 4 hit like 5 prize upgrades and one maxi (the maxi someone was max betting and was only playing for 10 minutes hitting thirteen thousand dollars and something. There were also a lot of other station hitting the prize upgrade too and I was only there for about 5 hours.

Sometimes though with the 2 games I am really familiar with (Titan and Beat the Field), the higher jackpots can trigger more often like I have experienced on Friday night. However, what I cannot figure out is if how much you are betting determines if you have a better chance at the jackpot or how often you hit the jackpot like from this one max bet guy I just described playing on Friday night. I have never though seen that many maxi's and prize upgrades in the 4 hours I was there friday night though.

Based on my experiences, jackpots can hit at anytime. Sometimes the jackpots on both of these games mentioned can get really high with the bonus not triggering that often and then all of the sudden boom, starts hitting like crazy or hits once and dies down. I think there is a balance with the slots and the computers the casino has set up that does this on purpose to glue you to the machines. Eventually, the machine will stop giving out jackpots for a while and then can hit on and off, then barely hit, then can start hitting like crazy again. What you do not want to do is play trying to chase a jackpot when all the jackpots are set at it's start amount. More likely, you will just get the lowest prize. Sometimes you might get lucky though, you never know; however, I only play when jackpots are a little higher than their start.
