I'm staying at the Flamingo at the end of the month and just got an email, it says:

"Look for an email the morning of your arrival inviting you to check in online. When you arrive, leave your bags at our Bell Desk and start having fun! We’ll text or email you when your room is ready so you know when and where to pick up your keys."

Has anyone tried this? Is it as easy as it sounds?

    Thanks!!!

Sounds good but i have not had this opportunity as of yet. There is no telling what room you will end up with using this method but who knows it might turn out well.

Yeah I would be worried that I'd get stuck with a poor room choice...

Sounds suspicious to me. I wouldn't do it.

Harrahs Cherokee has offered this type check-in for awhile but not too many people use it.
The concern is of course no information on the room you will be assigned especially if you have requests in

I would rather stand in line and try my luck with the $20 trick instead of doing that.

I did it for my recent stay at Caesars Palace. The room was nice had a partial pool view from my room in the Palace Tower. I only had to wait behind 2 people in line compared to probably 20-25 in the other line so just that part of it was worth it for me.

Yes, I replied to the email to check-in, while collecting the luggage at LAS.....got to the Flamingo around 1:30PM....HUGE check-in line....luckily, the GF got the attention of someone who was directing guests to the proper queue....when I mentioned I checked-in online, I was directed to a queue located on the far right....I believe the line was marked "Keys Only"....there was only one other person in that queue.....got the "key cards" and up to the GO room....took all of 5 minutes.....nice.

Theres usually no need for that at the flamingo as they have a Gold Total rewards line that is always empty, even if you dont have the card having one made at the TR desk just infront of the check in desk is faster than waiting in line

Do they still have this? I seem to recall this was discontinued at Flamingo.

Seems like a good idea, some of those lines can be totally brutal. Sure, I always have visions of getting this super fancy room by chance, but I end up with the same run of the mill room anyways. Why waste 45 minutes in line?!

Although it would depend on the hotel, some have various exceptions.. terrible views, or really long walks or whatever, but I mean generally if I book a run of the house king room, why not let them check me in?

We'll be at Paris a couple days earlier (21st) and we got that same email too. I'm skipping it so I can try for an upgrade to a RED room. Two years ago I got the RED room but that trick cost me $50. The room was comped so it was worth it. Hope the weather will be good for us... Good luck & have fun!

As of last week, the Flamingo no longer had a separate check-in line for Gold

Caesars used to have this and it was great, typically room was ready exactly at noon and I typically had some type of upgrade. Wish this was a little more common with places.
