So, I got both snail mail and today an email:

"I am going to make you a very special offer. From April 20-23 and April 27-30, we had a major group cancel. Because of this, we have rooms available and I am offering you a three-night complimentary stay during either of these periods."

My question would be "Why did two large groups cancel on such short notice?".

I'm considering them for the NPG part of my June/July trip, but now I'm wondering . . . .

seems kind of unusual for them to give a reason like that rather than just sending you an offer
do you have a relationship with them?

It only says "a" major group not two unless that was a mistake. Groups can cancel for any number of reasons, lost sponsor, didn't raise funds etc.

I was gonna ask the same question. Cant say that I have ever heard a casino emailing an explanation to someone about "why" they are offering a free room.!! Hey free is free though!!

Kinda sorta. On my last trip I dropped for the 10x points promotion and maxed it out (4000 points maximum).

Got a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight party invitation and that invitation all in the same day.

Dont' know if you've stayed there before but I'd recommend requesting a tower room. Better security and nicer.

No, and thanks for the tip. I'll remember that. Then again, Downtown Grand just upped my freeplay to $800 with 3 nights comp room and $150 FB credit.

I've never stayed at downtown grand but $800 is a lot of FP to me. And I like downtown and it's a new property. So that would win for me.

I also received the same offer from Silver7's. I thought the explanation was weird but who cares? I won't be able to take advantage of the offer ( just got back 3/25 to 3/31 ). Going back at least one more time ( booked 09/07 Labor Day to 09/11) and wished the offer was for June or July.
Question for you non-smokers............the past 3 trips, during the trip and after coming back home, I had a terrible chest congestion due to the smoke in the casinos. Have any of you experienced that too? Coughing and lots of junk from the chest. Anyone?

YES, my husband and I both have experienced coughing and chest congestion from the cigarette smoke in casino's. Even after our trip. My husband has a heart condition, so he is more effected than I am. However, we try to avoid smokers when we play the slots, or play in non smoking sections if a casino has them. And if a casino is crowded and smoky, we just don't go in.

    Kindly,
    K-9treatbaker
