On my first trip to Vegas we stayed at the "Flamingo Capri" later named "Imperial Palace". In that area there was a casino called (I think) "Showboat". The front looked like a paddle wheeler and it had cool neon on it. Does anyone remember it and what happened? Did it become part of IP or Harrahs or what? I saw it again on an old movie and it reminded me. I think the movie was "Leaving Las Vegas"

    TIA

You're probably thinking of the Holiday Casino, now Harrah's. It had a riverboat motif up until about 1990 or so.

Three casinos always seem to get confused with each other. All had some kind of a riverboat theme. Those were Holiday, on the Strip, Paddlewheel on Convention Center Drive, now Greek Isles, and Showboat, now a vacant tract on Fremont/Boulder east of downtown.

dmr is correct with the strip information, the place now taken over by harrahs had a showboat theme but wasn't called showboat. as nicky said, the showboat was on boulder. trying to find the boat paddle wheels, I remember seeing it somewhere, maybe on this site with the old pics.

Here is what in looked like in the 90s, but by then it was Harrah's. Racking my brain to try and remember the original name.

I think before Harrah's, it was a Holiday Inn, but that is too many dead brain cells ago!

EDIT: Found it, it was the Holiday Casino, but it was not associated with Holiday Inn, so you had the Holiday Inn and Holiday Casino in almost the same location but not the same business.

EDIT 2, found an older pic:
