I booked a room offer from my husband's "side" of out MLife account (our accounts are linked but this particular offer was under his number) which included $85 in freeplay. Since the offer was under his number and he is not traveling with me this weekend, I was worried I wouldn't be able to use the freeplay.

Just FYI, I emailed a slot host at Aria (who was extremely nice and fast to reply) and he said that I can use it, I just need to go to the MLife desk and have them transfer it onto my card.

I'm bringing his email with me in case I have any problems. Bringing my husband's players card too just in case.

Because we always play on my card, my wife and I split the free play. She just puts my card in like normal and takes the free play credits assigned to my card.

I don't see any reason to jump through hoops. Plug his card and pin number in and away you go.

I think because it is included in our room offer that it has to be loaded onto the card by the MLife desk... In the past we've always had to go have them activate it on our cards before it would show up as available. Have you noticed that?

I am sorry but I do not think they will allow you to use it.
I have always had to go to PC desk to get it loaded on the card which includes showing my ID with my card.

Debh: In the end, you may be right, but your logic does not prove that. After all, have you ever gone to the desk and asked them to move your free slot play from the other half of a linked account to yours? I am guessing not.

And to another poster that said just stick that persons card in and redeem their slot play. In some places (Mississippi), you can do that. But, in Vegas, you have to go the counter and "activate" the slot play, then you go to the machine and download/use it.

OK, I have to admit I have never tried it, but I contacted player's promotion because I never received my snail mail offer for October. They told me as long as the offer was in my on-line account, I didn't have to check-in at the player's club, the free play would be loaded on my card.
I'll let you know in a week. This is at Boyd.

okay I stand corrected regarding host handling situation for you but I do know if you just go to the desk they would not do it.
    Congrats and enjoy

I've never contacted a host before but thought, what the hell it doesn't hurt to ask. This guy was extremely nice and answered my emails promptly. I'm sure he can see by our account that we are not by any means high rollers but he was just as helpful and treated me as if I were worth his time. That will keep me going back to Aria in the future.

So, when you went to the desk to get the freeplay for the other person on your linked account, they said no? You had to go get that other person on your linked account to activate it?

That was at Boyd. The OP was talking about MGM/Mlife. Different company and therefore different rules.

We have a joined account but anytime their is freeplay in only one persons name that has to be taken care of at the Mlife desk and that person has to be there with their ID. If it is just rooms either one can call for the reservation

I have gotten conflicting responses to this question from the different VIP Services lines. MGM Grand insists that the actual recipient of the offer, regardless of linked accounts, has to be present to claim the freeplay (room and dining is available to the non-recipient linked account). However, Bellagio's VIP Services says that I only need the pin number for the party receiving the freeplay offer to get it put on my card.

This is a very confusing concept. It gets even more confusing when you consider that I wager over 99% of the combined play for the linked accounts but do not receive the freeplay offers. Additionally, the other half of the linked account does not even run through as much coin per trip as the freeplay being offered. The concept of extending different offers to the linked parties is very confusing, and it appears that the different resorts neither have the same interpretation nor are able to explain the rationale behind which party receives the offer.

DH used my offer at an MGM property & took my card with him to the players desk - they loaded the free play on it but he had to get them to go along with the idea that I was there - kind of a wink wink thing.

Stinks. I would have expected that vs the other scenario, but never tried it. My other half is ALWAYS with me. I redeem, and then we both use it via my card as needed. I have noticed the system tends to lock up if we BOTH try to redeem at the same time. Since she is smarter than me and goes to bed early, I wait and redeem later.

What about using your spouse's freeplay at a casino where it is automatically loaded onto a machine through the players card?

I once used Mrs. F's freeplay on a solo trip. Used her card, used her PIN. It wasn't that much - but when I was seeing the host prior to checkout he mentioned it. Didn't specifically say it was good or bad but I took it as a warning.

I'm considering asking up front if it is a no-no to do this, don't want to get banned.

I do it often, where it is available. Never heard of anybody having a problem. does not mean it isn't, but just never heard about it. In the end, I would think they would be glad SOMEBODY is in the house playing.
