So hoping you seasoned vegas go'ers can help me. Sept 7th is extremely high anywhere on the strip (apparently due to NFL opening weekend) Do you think that the price will come down any if I wait to book? I am just looking for one night, as I have other reservations downtown the next 4 nights. Just wanted to stay one night on the strip, but even the lower class places like The Quad are over $100. Wondering if I wait, that the price might go back to normal rates.

I would say that weekend is unlikely to change. NFL opening weekend is huge due to the betting of course.

Is it possible to change up the order of your stay?
Maybe stay on the strip at the end of your stay.
I know weekend rates are always higher, but probably not as big of a jump for downtown hotels.

You can always play MyVegas to get a free weekend night at the Excalibur? My mom pulled the ol' switcheroo on me for our trip in a month, and everything is sky high because of the Billboard Music Awards. I'm trying to get enough points to get the free night at Excal, otherwise, we're going to just shell out the 100 bucks to stay somewhere off-strip like Terribles.

To be honest, I have no idea what I am doing with "my vegas" I have it but guess I have not played it in a few weeks...( I think I played one day with whatever coins were given) and not sure what Im doing...is it all free or do I have to spend money in order to get anything?

Have you tried off-strip properties like the Station's casinos (Sunset/Palace/Boulder/Alliante/GVR/Red Rock)? Or maybe Sam's Town, or M, or Silverton?

    Prices

Book the lowest refundable price you can find (don't forget to consider mandatory resort fees) and then keep watching for a better deal. If one comes along, cancel and rebook. Whatever happens your price won't go up.

I was hoping to stay on the strip, as one of the ladies arriving on Saturday with me has never been to vegas before, and I thought she might like staying on the strip...I cant really change and stay there at the end of the trip as my commitment with the other army moms is from Sun-Thurs and we have all agreed on THE D for that time.

As an aside, I checked prices for all CET properties, and prices for September 7 (a Saturday) are no higher than any other Saturday in September. As noted above, the problem is that you're looking at a Saturday, instead of a weekday.

Its really not a problem...as I can book at "THE D" or 4 Queens, I was just hoping to let the other lady with me get the Strip experience.

I checked a couple of the off-strip places for your dates, and it's still high as a cat's back. Yikes!

As for the MyVegas thing, if you do Facebook, its not too bad. I've not spent any money and I have been able to get several things, including rooms. It does require dedication/time to get anything worthwhile. They've made it a little harder/bumped up prices recently, but its still free (even the resort fees!) so it might be an option you investigate. Our VMB MyVegas section has some good tips for maximizing your play as well. :peace:
