    My Trip Report

    Friday Sept 6
A super friendly check-in clerk gets me in a room at 10am. I didn't have my Players Card to get the Parking Fee waived and said she wouldn't charge me. Not sure why they don't just waive it when you're checking in anyway but what do I know.

Unlike the North Tower I do not have to haul my luggage through the casino to the elevator as they are right by Check-in. My 14th floor room has a southern view but not of the Strip because a stupid building blocks the view. One small table with 2 chairs, 2 queen beds. The A/C noise is tolerable and blows cold or hot should I move the thermo that way, which I did at night. The bath plumbing works and does not use a water saver shower head. I get a decent connection to the free wifi from the FSE provider. The flat panel TV is not HD and doesn't swivel. I solved the swivel problem by moving the whole dresser it sits on. I solved the HD problem by wearing my glasses. Ice machines are only on floors 2, 5, 8, 10, 14, and 18. Soda machines are on a few other floors

Never looking for anything special I don't do the $20 Sandwich. But today has started off well and on the way to my usual "FSE Stroll" I go back to Check-in and hand my clerk a $10 sandwich in the guise of showing her I have a Players Card. The look on her face was priceless.

Slotzilla's skin is progressing as workers are actually working on it. Why did they build two elevators when they could have made a catwalk to the parking garage or Neonopolis and used those? The old Zipline used the garage elevators. It's only like 10 feet apart.

Lunch at Mickie Finns. Been meaning to try the Clam Chowder in a bread bowl. Turns out it is awesome and shame on me for putting this off. Includes a salad. The ticket printer in the back did not print my order so they bought me a Bourbon and Coke. I left a 20 spot and headed over to the ElCo for Blackjack where I make $60 last 90 minutes with a fun young couple and another football fan. Losing the money was totally worth the good time as we talk football and debate hitting 16 against a Dealer 7, 8 or 9.

Having saved up my quarters at home I play Sigma Derby. Not one win. Played a lot of long shots. Newbies sit down and ask how to play. I tell them to bet 1 quarter and order a drink. The afternoon Cocktail service wasn't "all that" but later in the evening it was excellent.

First Friday and Pride Weekend going on. Chatted with a FSE Security Officer about the open container law. Basically it's "don't be an ass", and don't sit in public drinking from a 12 pack or a cooler. He also mentioned the gangs come out for First Friday so they have a SWAT unit onsite and ready.

Bridge now plays the east end of FSE at 6pm drawing the attention of the early arrivals.

The Golden Gate's new outdoor bar is almost finished. They laid the floor tile this weekend and the overhead digital sign is working.

The Golden Nugget is building an outdoor bar, the One Bar, probably because that little window they had wasn't cutting it.

At 8pm I caught Clockwork on the 1st St stage. Very good high energy musicians taking no breaks between songs. Chumba Wumba, Jesus Jones, Chili Peppers, Kid Rock, Lit. In the middle of this set a PG Rated lesbian mosh pit started to form. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that except for the few lesbians that outweighed me.

Kinda blurry but I remember losing some money at a crap table. Don't remember which one but I can safely rule out the Gold Nugget.

    Saturday Sept 7
I head to the Plaza for the 9am Miami-Florida game. The William Hill Books have these blue padded seats. The good kind where the pad is so deep my butt doesn't bottom out on the seat board and they are great. The place didn't fill up until after kick off. I got a table up front I wound up sharing with a nice lady and her son. Pop-Up Pizza opens at 11:30.

At the half I went to check out the GN for football viewing. Only 5 big screens and food in the Grand poker room. One Crap table and a few BJ tables. Except for the poker players it was empty. Probably because Domestic bottles are $6 and the prices go up from there. Food: $8 pork sandwich plate, medium sized cheese pizza $13, one topping for $15. No slices.

Wound up eating a pretty good thin crust meat lover pizza at Chicago Brew Co. I will get this again with cheddar cheese added to it.

Miami wins outright for the first leg of a parlay ticket.

Played some craps at 4Q and won $230 to get back to even. I hit 5 points and the "Small" bet. Needed a Yo for the "Tall" and "All" but couldn't do it. I don't bet those but it sure is fun to watch as they get close.

Lost $100 at Fremont crap table as GA covers. C'mon Michigan.

Paid $9 for almost a pint of Jack and Coke at the 4Q outdoor bar. Bartender says daytime business dropped 50% after the landing for the Zipline was removed. Riders celebrated with a shot or drink as soon after they came down those stairs. Three strapping young lads from Long Island NY step up to the bar. They are staying at the Luxor and rode the Deuce here for the afternoon. They remarked it was more laid back and a better vibe here. They asked about a place called Batista's and showing off my VMB retention skills I directed them to the discretely located restaurant and told them to stop in The Stage Door as well.

Lunch at the 777 is the Filet sandwich - very good with A1 sauce. Mediocre fries. Two High Rollers to wash it down. Pulled out a $100 for LIR but no love so took remaining $55 to crap table. Dwindled that down to $25 so I Buy the 10 and turn into "That Guy". You know him. He walks up with $10 to his name and makes some carnie bet. 10 minutes later he walks away with twice your buy-in as you stand there wondering what the hell just happened. I press after the first 10 then it hits 2 more times and I take it back down to $25. Other bets get me up to $325 but I stayed too long under false pretenses. Finally pried myself away with only $150.

At the Cal I lost $100 playing Craps because I cannot leave well enough alone.

After a pit stop in the room I sat at the 4Q Kings Bar for some people watching and VP. Popped in $30, had 4 Bourbon&Cokes and hit 1 quad, a few boats and cashed out $45. Using those funds I bought 3 parlay tickets for the NFL with New England as my "Lock of The Day".

Michigan gives me love for the 3rd leg of 4 teamer. Need San Jose StateU to suck less than 26.5 points in Stanford.

At 8pm the debut of Kid Hollywood on the 1st St Stage did not disappoint. All 3 sets had Peter Monroy belting out 80's Big Hair Metal hits. You can tell he's enjoyed singing all his life and he is quite talented. Never missed a note and maintains the highs on key like a Carl Ferris sax. Backed by 3 skilled musicians these guys are worthy of another evening.

SJSU doesn't lose by 26.5 for my 4-teamer to win $60.

On the way to the room I sneak a pic of a recent trend for characters. A scantily clad female Devil and Angel. They only remove those hand fans after procuring proper encouragement and then me and 50 other people start taking pictures. Funny stuff.

    Sunday Sept 8
Wake up to a wet city. From my window it reminds me of NYC with the low clouds mingling among the high rises.

Always on the lookout for a place to watch football, I discovered Radio City Pizza. Right next to "Insert Coins" this small cafe has 20 TV's lining the dining area walls. $2 slices, $1 Bud\Bud Light pints and bottles. The pizza and chicken tenders are "just OK". Only me and another guy in the whole place for the early games with a few others trickling in later. Comfortable seats and an excellent view of many TV's. Front outdoor patio for smoking. Out back is another patio with a bar and 3 TV's.

My "lock" today is NE and they can't cover so I lose my 3 parlay tickets early. Giants sucked too so I wander These Lonely Streets and play Craps @4Q where I plop down my buy-in with my Player Card. Soon an Asian Pit Lady hand delivers my card and asked if I wanted a dinner. Uh, why yes, thank you, thank you very much. $20 comp at Magnolia's out of the Blue. Get the Gumbo.

I find myself playing Sigma Derby again. Sigma Derby is fun but rigged. I played every bet a couple of times just to see but the low pay 2to1 kept winning. Never saw a winner better than 12to1 in about 15 races. The best strategy is to bet only a few quarters and keep ordering drinks. After a few Bourbon\Cokes I cash my remaining $15.00 in quarters and walk over to the Vue Bar for unrigged VP. Playing 25cent I get the credits high enough to expand my game to $1. Played at 2, 3, or 5 credits and did OK until I sensed The End. Moved back to 25cent and finally cashed out $35. Took that downstairs to the Crap Table and got lucky when a nice looking girl rolled my numbers a bunch of times. Walked out of there with $165.

I used my 4Q Food Comp on the full rack of ribs, fries and gumbo ($18.99). Never had any Louisiana Gumbo before and it is awesome. I will definately get that again. The ribs were good but I've never had Ellis Island ribs to compare. One of these days.

I'm pretty bombed so I stayed at the 4Q. Saving FSE from Myself was prudent at this juncture.

Fate has steered me to the now $123,456.51 Progressive Let It Ride table where I suffer several losing hands with one other Player who is seated on 1st Base. Player 1 is ready to leave but my charm and witty banter has her stay for a few more beatings. Two hands or so she celebrates with a "no brainer" of two Jacks. I'm dealt trip 8's raining on her parade. The community cards are a pair of 4's so my three $5 bets are now worth 11to1 each, totaling $165. I have $5 on the "3 Card Bonus" and get paid $150 for that and the $1 Bonus pays me $50. I slid 1st base a Green for staying and toked a Green to the Dealer. After a few more loser's I head to the Crap Table one more time and added another $100.

It's nice to wake up and find your chip stack from the previous night has a few Blacks anchoring it. They look cool under the Green ones.

I check out through the TV and drive over for more pics of my obsession you know as the Linqs High Roller, which I have dubbed my "White Whale". It's a white wheel. See what I did there?

My last stop is at Sam's Town for my "Last Hurrah". A hot shooter is well underway so I wait to buy in. Any fool can tell it's a hot table because all the Numbers are loaded with stacks of chips including the Hard Way action. A couple other guys walk up and buy in and the player next to me thanks me for waiting. No problem-o as I do I want to be "That Guy" on this roll. A few rolls later the Seven comes out as we all knew it would.

After a few minutes a guy buys in right on top of me like we are cell mates. He needs a bath like there's no tomorrow so the moment I have no action I take my chips to a Blackjack table. I manage to stay even and then I see Stinky finally leave. I head back over and catch a couple hot rollers to head home with $290 of Sam's hard earned money.

    The End

    Nice TR, thanks for sharing!

On August 23rd we also saw a girl on FSE with the red thong and red pasties. Nothing like the girl in your photo, the girl we saw was at least 250...... She was still getting a lot of photos taken.... Made me feel quite sorry for her.
