    My Trip Report

Broke this up into categories for you. Hopefully it provides someone some useful information. This trip was me (42), my husband who is a quadriplegic and confined to an electric wheelchair (54), my sister (27), and her husband (33). This was my husbands first time flying since becoming a quadriplegic 33 years ago.

    Flights:
Flew out of DFW on American with no problems. Landed early even. We did have a piece of the electric wheelchair get broken, but stood our ground and filed a claim and they are getting it fixed. Thankfully I had electrical tape with me and the chair was able to be taped so it would work.

Flight home was not as good. Plan we were supposed to go on had gone through severe turbulence and couldn’t fly again until thoroughly inspected. We were on 4:50pm flight. They bumped us to the 6:10 flight. We sat on the runway until 7:30 because no planes were taking off due to the storm. Got back to DFW at midnight and by the time we got luggage and 2 hour drive home did not get home until after 3:00am.

    Hotels:
Husband and I stayed at Caesars Palace. Reservation host made said we were in Palace Tower but when I checked in in the Diamond Check in we were given a room in the Augustus Tower on 38th floor with a spectacular view of the Bellagio fountains.

My sister and her husband had a room for 3 of the 5 nights at the Venetian and stayed the other 2 nights with us at CP. Venetian room was standard with mountain view.

    Shows:
We saw Jersey Boys and enjoyed it very much.

Michael Jackson One-awesome show and I highly recommend it.

Defending the Cavemen-my sister and I went to this Sunday afternoon while our husbands watched NFL at the CP Sportsbook.

    Restaurants:
Mesa Grill (CP)-very good food. My favorite was the Queso Fundido appetizer. Used my $100 dinner voucher for Diamond here.

Milo’s (Cosmo)- went here for the lunch special and thought it was a very good deal for a 3 course meal for $22.13. Would definitely go again.

Charlie Palmer Steaks (Mandalay Bay)-we got the Cut of the Week menu for $48. Excellent value and very nice restaurant.

RiRa Irish Pub (Mandalay Bay)- went here very late on Sunday night as not much else was open. I got a burger which, I did not like at all.

The Henry (Cosmo)-I won a $40 comp on a promo they had going so we had lunch here one day. Very good food, although pretty basic.

Mon Ami Gabi (Paris)-very good as usual

Smash Bar (CP)- actually ate here twice as we spent quite a bit of time at the Sportsbook and it is very convenient.

    Gambling:
My husband and Brother in Law spent a lot of time at the Sportsbook in Caesars Palace and sister and I came and went from there. We really enjoyed it and had reserved a table for all day Saturday and Sunday. Tommy is the host of the tables and does an excellent job keeping people from your tables. Cocktail service is good in this area and they were generous with drink tickets for placing bets.

I played slots and electronic craps for some variety. I could play craps for a long time on the same $100 bill and drink service there was always good and the table can be a lot of fun I broke even on craps. I played a lot of slots as I was trying to earn Diamond for next year. I had two handpays. First was on the second night we were there about 2:30 am on a $1 Western Stars machine. Max bet was $3 and I hit a bonus that ended up paying me $2156. Other handpay was on a Take the Cake penny machine with max bet $2.25 as I was walking through Flamingo and stopped to stick a $20 in. Hit the top progressive without realizing what I had done for $1202.

    Diamond Lounges:
Spent about an hour in the lounge at Paris. Went in there to get frozen mudslides, but the blender was broken. Our server recommended a very good drink to us though.

Had a couple drinks at the lounge in CP on afternoon. Very good and great service.

    Summary:
Very good trip and ended up coming home with $1000 more than I took with me and husband won about $200 on sports bets. I did get quite a bit comped over the course of the trip. Now am trying to plan a quick weekend trip to take my mom, since she stayed with our kids so hubby and I could go.

    Thanks for reading.

That is funny about the blender in the Paris diamond lounge. I was there in April of 2011 and it was broken. Looks like CET is trying to save money wher ever they can.

Congrats on your winning trip. There is nothing like a win to make you want to get back there again. You didn't mention if you liked "Defending the Caveman". I've been tempted, but have heard some less than flattering reviews.

    Thanks for the report.

Glad you had a winning trip. And good for you for standing your ground about the wheelchair. Had an airline mishandle my scooter one trip, it got busted up pretty bad. We took pictures immediately and got reimbursed for the repairs.

Hmmmmmm, the broken blender seems to be frequent, I was told that in December.....maybe they don't even own a blender anymore:wink2:

My sister and I both enjoyed Defending the Caveman. It is in a small room and is only about an hour long, but his material makes you think about the differences in men and women.

As for the wheelchair we filed a claim at the American Airlines Baggage Center right there in baggage claim. They sent a local wheelchair representative out to meet us in Vegas to look at what part needed ordered and the ordered it and had it sent to our house. They have been very helpful. The key seems to be making the claim before leaving the airport.

Maybe they just don't like using the blender. When I was there in December they were using it. Whatever the case, we finally got our frozen mudslides at CP.

Like the way you broke this report up. Concise and right to the point. Icing on the cake is being able to come home a winner.

Have been wanting to try that Milos lunch special as I've read nothing but good reviews about it.

    Thanks for the report.

Sounds like you guys had a fun trip. Good job on the $1K win! Always nice!
The length of your report was perfect and straight to the point... I like that!
So, in the past have you always driven to Las Vegas? Thanks for posting!

My husband and I drove in 1996 and then he did not go again until 2012 when we drove again. An 18 hour drive is just too hard on him.

I have made my other trips without him and flown. I think he is convinced to fly again, as long as my sister and brother in law will go with us to help.
