    My Trip Report

Trip Report January 8 to 22:

AS before I warn you this is not an exciting report.

    Second Week

This is part two I posted the first week in another thread.

    http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101892

    Day 8 January 15: & Day 9 January 16:

Eric and Sue are leaving this morning to go back to Sun City near Phoenix. We decide to eat breakfast at the “Cracked Egg” on Rainbow this is a solid breakfast/lunch place.

Didn’t take good notes these days and I lost track. I do know that I was on a losing streak both BJ, craps and VP.

Let’s just say I was on tilt again and had pent up gambling jones after being tour guide and chauffer for a couple days. This is not a good combo for me.

My wife wanted to go to Trader Joe’s. There is one in Henderson and one on Decatur. I wanted to also see the Arizona Charlies on Decatur so off we go. First stop was Arizona Charlies we only stayed a couple minutes. Just too smoky I’m not that sensitive but this place has no ventilation.

Shopped at Trader Joes and then back home.

    Day 10 January 17

We have plans to go to Casa Di Amore on Trop right next to the gun store. And I’ve been wanting to play the poker tourney at Southpoint. So the plan is set for the day and I have new hope that I can turn my BJ game around.

I think the tournament is at 9 so I get there around 7 to play some blackjack then eat breakfast. Everything going to plan and I breakeven on BJ! Major improvement from the last couple days, then I have the buffet and go back to register for poker $60 . Goof the tournament is at 10 so what do I do go back and play some more blackjack and lose $160. I’m not in a good frame of mind going into the tournament.
There are about 20 players and 10 rebuys board says 30 entrants. Everyone at my table know each other and the dealers. I’m thinking I’m major fish here. Anyway I get my head together and play tight only get a couple hands in the first hour. This is enough to stick around. Now people are taking chances and dropping to the big stacks. After the first break I’m one of the short stacks and the blinds are killing me so I have to start going all in. Luckily the big guys don’t have anything and fold keeping me in the hunt. Then I’m big blind and flop two pairs A 8. I almost eliminate a guy with A J left him crippled and he was out next hand. That left five guys and I hung around for third place. Normally pays 3 places but we voted to pay 4th place $60 the entrance fee. After I was eliminated the other two chopped for around $500 each. I got $260.

I like this tourney and will do it again. The levels are long enough so that it’s not so much luck.

Casa Di Amore is good food and friendly old Vegas vibe. Cost was about $50/person with drinks and tip.

    Day 11 January 18:

Went to Silverton this morning for Coffee and had another losing session at blackjack -$150. Didn’t matter which dealer they all killed me. Took my remaining $50 in Chips and had a decent run at craps with one guy throwing. I didn’t throw because my confidence had just taken a major kick in the ass. I was up pretty good then started giving it back. Walked $50 to the good.

Drove over to Southpoint but didn’t play all the tables were $10 or higher. Ordinarily I would play at that but not this morning. Like I said I had no confidence. Lost $40 on VP chasing quads which have eluded me most of the trip.

    Day 11 January 18:

Had another losing session of BJ can’t remember the amount. Decided to call it quits for the day.

GT had come down with a cold or something. I decided to go to church without her, I only mention it because I texted my brother and asked him if it’s ok to pray for good cards. He said it’s ok to pray for good cards and its ok to pray for the hookers. But it’s not ok to pray for hookers.

Stayed at the condo the rest of the day and watched football and ate leftovers

    Day 12 January 20:

It’s getting close to the end of the trip and I need to get the gambling urge out of my system. I decide to drive to Sun Coast this morning not sure why. The place is dead! Not one other BJ player I guess it’s too early. I don’t like playing BJ alone but do anyway and lose $50. Walk over to the bar tops and they are in horrible shape. Half don’t work or won’t accept my player’s card. The third machine I tried took money and card but then froze on first hand. Slot attendant got it rebooted and then it worked fine and in about five hands I hold two Aces and draw the others for $100 win.

Decide to drive downtown and valet park at Main Street. There are more beggars than gamblers early in the morning, place is deserted. It must have been around 8 am by this time. Ate pancakes at DuPars good but expensive and slow service.

Looked for a BJ table GG and four Queens and a couple others but all tables empty. Finally I find a table at Fremont. Played for a bit up and down left even. Then went over to Main Street and played some 9/6 JOB at the bar. Lost $20 and decided to go back and see if GT is up. I know she needs to go to the outlet stores for something she ordered.
I make an omelet for her breakfast. Trying to use up groceries before we leave. GT takes forever getting ready and we finally head out to the south outlet mall.

We spend a couple hours shopping there. Shopping in Vegas would normally drive me insane but I’m doing so bad gambling I don’t want to see the inside of casino.

Diner tonight was at Ellis Island coffee shop. My wife had the steak special I had the fried chicken. Fried chicken was good but the mashed potatoes I paid extra for had beef gravy.
    Day 13 January 21:

Last full day I left for Southpoint full of enthusiasm. I had expectation of getting on a monster streak with splits and re-splits doubles and winning them all. The dealers would bust 12 in a row while I pushed my bets up from five to ten then $25 then $100. The pit boss would come over and watch my play! Everyone would start calling me Mr. TomTWI. Alas it was all a dream my last BJ for the trip was nothing like that. I sat down at a table with a multi green chip player. He was almost out of chips and got a marker for another $500 right after I got there. We played a long time I was up and down mostly down. At one point I almost walked with a $60 loss. Then finally we got on a mini streak that got me ahead for the first time $25. The other guy actually made up for his early losses and repaid both markers. We played about three hours and I asked for a breakfast comp for the buffet. He came back and said they just closed the buffet until lunch opened at 11. So I said how about two lunch buffets then called GT and told her to get ready. After lunch GT wanted to play some slots she had decent luck this trip and was ahead. We played for an hour. I was pounding VP and GT Amazon Fishing slot. She won $30 and I lost $60.

    Last day :

Flight leaves at 3 pm so I head out again to get on a BJ roll but again take a beating $150. I’m done I’ve had enough gambling I’m beaten.
Back to condo and get GT going.

We have a checklist of things we need to do to close up and it takes some time. Get everything packed and turned off etc. On way to airport we stop at Jimmy Johns eat half a sub and pack the other half to augment the Southwest snacks.

Good return flight it pushed back exactly on time and arrived in Milwaukee a little early but then gate was occupied so we didn’t get off plane early but was on time at least.

    Final thoughts:

Good trip and the weather was exceptional for January.

Vegas was empty so people watching wasn’t so good.

I need a stop loss strategy or the envelope method or something on these long trips.

Million Dollar Quartet was a great show.

    Highlight was the poker tournament.

    Thanks for reading

Thanks for the share.Sometimes it doesnt go right at the tables huh.I try to tell myself to always have a losing limit and a winning limit.

The main thing is to play to have fun not to win. :)

Great TR, I am with you on a method for gambling money. I put everything in the safe when we arrive and take out what I want for the day as we head downstairs. I refuse to get back into it until the next day. So far so good, as it seems the more I am up the more I will gamble but if I am down or getting low, I tend to lay back and people watch more. First couple days I might go a little over my bankroll just thinking I will make it up on a win sooner or later. Other option for me is to go play Sigma Derby, I can sit there for hours and only spend 40-50 bucks, not to mention great drink service!

    Nice big blind special! :evillaugh

And aces twice isn't too shabby, depending on how much u played I suppose. But it sounds like BJ just generally killed you...ugh. Hope you have a better run next time! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing Tom. Its easy to share the winning trips, a bit more painful to replay the losing ones. I'm hoping to repeat my last trip, but deep down, know that the chances of that are close to zero. On the gambling side and on the survival if I party like I did last time!

    Casa Di Amore

Yes we did go in I mention it later in the report. I thought the food was good like 3 out of 5. The place has an old Vegas vibe lots of pics on walls of entertainers and celebs. The cost with drinks and generous tip came to about $50/person. We used a $50 restaurants.com coupon without a problem.

I would go back my wife wasn't as happy with her food as I was.
