    My Trip Report

    Background

2nd trip to Vegas for me Jamie, and my wife Carrie. Our first one was October 2014.

We have booked Caesars again. This time just booking the cheapest Forum room and hoping to get upgraded with the $20 trick.
We've got $20 credit to spend on food/drink each day at Caesars as part of our deal.

Flying from Edinburgh to Heathrow, then Heathrow to Vegas with British Airways.

Pre-booked Presidential Limo to to take us from and to airport. Booked them also for a trip to Red Rock Canyon.

Mon Ami Gabi and Joes booked for dinner.

Lionel Richie and Calvin Harris booked show-wise.

This trip is for my wife's 40th so I have booked a "birthday day" for her on the Tuesday.

Plan is Payards for coffee, Qua Spa for 9am for a Morning Mist treatment, Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast/lunch, few hours shopping in Caesars, limo out to Red Rock Canyon at 4:30pm then Joes for dinner at 8pm.

Been buzzing for this trip as work has been stressful and could do with a good blow-out, drink, fun, etc

We book in to a hotel on Saturday 1st October right next to the airport to save us having to get up even earlier tomorrow as we live around 70 miles from Edinburgh. Meal in hotel and few drinks on Saturday night are good then just chill in hotel room tonight. Something we hardly ever get to do back home. Excited and looking forward to tomorrow

Wake up 6am, get shower then head to drop car off at airport parking. We are quite early but I'd rather be that way than having to rush thru security. Get a fry-up (Scottish Breakfast) at airport. Wife raids shops as usual and hop on flight to London.
Breakfast again on flight down to London. Not complaining. We love our food!

Connecting flight to Vegas slightly delayed but no big deal. Watch several films en route. Flight wasn't too bad.

Get picked up at airport from Presidential. Guy was nice. We were planning on stopping for supplies for the room but we are excited now so just want to get to Caesars!
Tip driver $20 and head for check in

I have booked basic Forum room. Try my best Scottish charm and ask if there are any free upgrades. She types away for a while and says she can give me a Palace room with a jacuzzi or a bigger room with no jacuzzi. We opt for the Palace room as the jacuzzi is good for tired legs, muscles, feet. Tip her $30 and we are both happy!

100% record with the upgrades now haha!
Room is identical to the one we had in Octavius the last time but even bigger. Good result.

We are both pretty tired now as we have been up nearly 20 hours. It's 4pm Vegas time but midnight our time. We are determined to even stay up until 8/9pm Vegas time to try and get on Vegas time ASAP.

Head down for a wander around Caesars area and little gamble. Wife wanting to go to Cheesecake Factory as it's the kind of comfort food you need when you are this tired. I get beef tacos. Wife gets chicken tacos. A cocktail each and wife orders a slice of Lemon Meringue cheesecake. Cheesecake is more her thing but she assures me it was delicious.
Exhausted now as we have been awake over 26 hours! Head up to room and crash out immediately. We will see you tomorrow Vegas!!!!

I'm confused, your trip report says 2nd to 10th October, yet today is 16th October and you are posting things relating to 1st October?

Wake up at 5am Vegas time as our sleep pattern is all over the place. Head out to get coffee at Payards then gamble. We both just play roulette and a bit of Video Poker. Plan to walk up Cosmo side of Strip and back down the other side.

Sit down to bubble roulette at Cosmo at 6am and my automatic reaction when CW comes over is to order a beer! Wife gets a Malibu and Coke. We can both put away a fair amount of drink but 6am is quite ridiculous! Oh well we are in Vegas! Hit every casino all the way upto Mandalay Bay having at least a drink in each one. Breakfast in Il Fornaio in NYNY. I had Eggs Benedict, wife had pancakes. Was quite good.

Excuse me if the details are a bit sketchy on this part as we were both quite drunk! I can remember sitting in Ri Ra having a Guinness on my own whilst wife stopped. $8.75 a pint is horrendous but what the hell. Back down the other side of strip. Can remember sitting on bubble roulette at MGM, maybe only 3pm but quite smashed. Head into Paris etc. Back to the room about 5/6pm and both fall asleep. Got MAG booked for dinner 7:30pm as wife loved it there last time. Dinner was good. Got a jug of Frangria. Quite strong but delicious. Went to the Linq which was good and crash out in the room around 10pm. Good first full day in Vegas from what I can remember and in definitely feeling a lot more chilled!

Wake up early next day. Today is the wife's Birthday Day. Coffee and pastries at Payards for breakfast then wife is booked in to Qua Spa for a massage/exfoliation kinda thing. I get her checked in there then head to Linq to gamble. Do OK then head back to Caesars a bit early incase she is finished early. As soon as I get into Caesars I get a message through the wifi from her telling me to come to Qua ASAP. When the masseuse was applying the lotion to her legs she took a severe reaction to it and her skin bubbled up in hives! She got rushed to the shower immediately to wash it off and the masseuse was mortified and apologetic. A doctor was called and they asked if she wanted to file a report/take things further. My wife says no as it was just one of those things. She has never been aware of being allergic to anything before so it was strange. It was all natural ingredients and they gave her a print out if what was in it. They advised he to get Cortizone 10 from the pharmacy. I went back later to get back the $225 fee and they were apologetic again. Not a great start to her birthday day.

Plan was to hit MAG, so we have a look at the menu, but as it is after 11am they no longer do breakfast and that's what my wife was in the mood of. Decide on going to Bachannal instead which was good as always. Head to Forum shops and buy wife jewellery from Swarovski and Pandora. She loves jewellery shopping so she is in her happy place haha! Plus it makes up for the Qua debacle.

Limo picks us up to head out to Red Rock. Driver looks like he would rather be anywhere else than driving us out there. Kinda puts a bit of a dampener on it. Red Rock Canyon itself was amazing. Stopped a few places for photos. I love old Westerns so was great to see that landscape.

Back to Caesars and chill out for a bit. We've got Joes booked for tonight. I'm hoping it's good so we can end this day on a positive.....

Well it was incredible!!!! Our waiter was Neil. Really dry, drole sense of humour. I ordered bone in rib eye and wife ordered skirt steak with lime butter. Sides were green beans and potato with sour cream and roast onion butter.
We both loved our meal. Cooked to perfection. Staff were amazing. We will definitely be back

We actually had it booked back in 2014 but cancelled it as we weren't in the mood that night of a sit down meal. Kinda kicking ourselves now but glad we came tonight.

Head out for a bit more gambling. Meet up with one of my work colleagues who arrived yesterday. He is here with his wife and her aunty and uncle. Meet them in TI and have a real good drink and hit several casinos. Get back to Caesars at 5am. We were needing to stay up late anyway to kind of tire us out and get us more onto Vegas time. Had a great day all in!

Joes is now definitely my wife's new favourite

Wake up 9:30am. Head to MAG to get breakfast this time. Wife orders walnut and cinnamon crepes and I get steak eggs Benedict. Both are good.

Head out for a gamble and we have got Lionel Richie tonight.

Go out to South Premium Outlets. Get loads for ourselves and our daughter. 2 hours shopping is just about my upper limit so head back to Caesars. Get a Hot Dog from Serendipity before heading to Lionel. He was good - still on form.

Thursday - this is where it all goes wrong!

Breakfast at Bacchanal today. Good as always

Decide to just chill for most of the day at the pool. Going downtown tonight for a serious drink and have booked Andiamos based on the Trip Advisor reviews.

Get a few cocktails at the pool during the day at Caesars. $52 for two but I won $360 at the Linq in the morning so why not! Feel quite buzzed after the cocktails so head up to the room around 4pm, quick shower then get taxi for MSS. Wife hated downtown last time but we only went during the day so hopefully she will like it better at night. It's my kind of place tho.
Few drinks and gamble in MSS then head to Andiamo. Waiter was terrible. Hardly spoke to us at all. I ordered steak and it was chewy and not the best at all. Wife ordered chicken. Asked for the bill and not one person said goodbye or thank you on the way out. Terrible service and food wasn't the best either. Had been really looking forward to this. Wife is pissed off but we are suppose to be meeting my friend from work again. She just wants to go back to the room. We start walking up Fremont but bump into my friend. I tell him my wife isn't feeling well (sligt lie) and apologise but we are going back to the room. We stand and talk to them for ten minutes and she comes out her mood and says to me in front of them she is feeling better now.

We go into a store and get some of they pre-mixed vodka drinks in the cans. Get photos with all the semi nude street performers! Do a few casinos and get speaking to a homeless guy called Robert outside the ABC store. He's a great guy and we end up buying him beer which was called 2/11. Speak to him for over an hour and we head our separate ways. My friend from work says the 2/11 beer was a sign so we head to the bubble roulette at Binions and put in 20 bucks each. We put on a few of our own numbers too but go big on 2 and 11. You won't believe this but the first number to find out was 11. Then 2. Then 11!!!! We are jumping about the casino shouting God bless Morgan Freeman!!!! (He looked like Morgan Freeman). Cash out in a matter of 2 minutes for $440! My friend jokes that Morgan Freeman was actually God and he had came down from Heaven to give us that sign!!! Two American guys sitting at the table were bewildered by 6 Scottish people jumping about shouting Morgan Freeman haha!

Pretty drunk now and head upto the stage where the band is playing. Martins shoe falls off at the side of the stage and I drunkenkly try and throw it out into the street. Well my aim is off after the ten cans of vodka mixer and I take out one of the light bulbs from the casino. It sprays glass all over the place and the majority of it lands in this woman's hair who is just coming into Fremont Street. I apologise profusely and try and get the majority of the lightbulb out her hair! God I am an idiot when drunk! We stay til about 4am then head back to bed for about 5am. Mad night.

    God Bless Morgan Freeman!!!!

    Friday 7th October

Wake up after only 4 hours sleep and I should be on a life support machine. Never been so dehydrated and hungover in my life. What the hell was in they cans?!?! We were drinking a pre mixed vodka then Mikes Hard Lemonade and Strawberry Pineapple. I'm guessing but must've had 15-20 cans of the stuff! Wife is worried as my face is swollen apparently. I can't even move! I tell her I need to go back to sleep so she decides to go for a walk. I Google the oxygen/hangover bus but I feel so horrendous I can't even phone them. Can just imagine my wife coming back to the room and I'm on a drip with an oxygen mask haha!

I manage to sleep for few more hours and feel slightly better. Wake up at 1:30pm.

    What was in they cans?!

Look back at the pictures from last night and it is like The Hangover movie gone wrong!

Manage to drag my ass to HHAGG which is the exact type of food I need right at that time. Order the Sage Fried Chicken Benny. Just comfort food on a massive scale. It's not gourmet food by a long shot but it does the job!

Manage a gamble at the Linq and win $215.

We have tickets for Calvin Harris tonight at Omnia. It's about the last place on earth I want to go to but my wife is really looking forward to it. We head back to the room for another sleep and wake up at 9:30pm. My friend from work has tickets but his wife can't stop being sick with her hangover so he's flying solo. We meet him in the Linq for a gamble. I manage 3 beers which amazed me as even breathing was an effort this morning!

    What was in they cans?!

We go to Calvin Harris but get separated from my friend on entry. My plan was to stay for 3/4 songs and leave my wife with him. Looks like that won't be happening. I manage to suffer on until 3am. We leave around 15 minutes before the end and I am in the mood of a Mcds so I head over to the one across from Mirage. I come back with the food and my wife is sitting speaking to my friend. He found her just as I left for Mcds. He is absolutely smashed which is a surprise given how hungover he was earlier and also the prices inside Omnia. He spent $440 on alcohol!

A good day considering how close to death I was this morning!

    Saturday 8th October

Our last full day in Vegas as we fly home the next day.

I wake up and feel almost human given yesterday's situation. Head to MAG for breakfast as its wife's favourite.

Decide to go to Bellagio as we haven't seen the conservatory this trip. Amazing as always.

Have a wander about a fee casinos and I try and call upon the power of Morgan Freeman once more but looks like he doesn't come to the strip.

Wife wants crepes for lunch so we get some inside NYNY. I am in the mood of a burger. Queue for Shake Shack is massive so can't be bothered waiting in that. Go to Toms Urban and get the Bahn Mi burger. Was good. Wife gets few chicken sliders which were excellent. Chinese kinda style.

Talk about where to go to for dinner tonight and both would love Joes again. I try to get table online but fully booked. We go in to Joes hoping that they can squeeze us in. The big Canadian head guy that runs the show loves Scotland and we stand talking to him for at least 5-10 minutes. He manages to get us a table which we are both delighted with!

Dinner is excellent again. We ordered the same steaks again but different sides and they were even better than last time. Love this place!

My wife's stomach has been dodgy since that crazy Thu night so she decides to go up to the room. I go to Linq to gamble but no luck this time. Head back to the room and we chill out.

    Home time tomorrow unfortunately

I'm still laughing about you throwing a shoe and breaking a light bulb into someone's hair. Classic. Sounds like a great time aside from a couple mishaps. I have very sensitive skin so I feel for your wife on the reaction to the lotion at Qua.

Thanks for sharing your trip report!

Excellent report tuggy. Always good to read things from a fellow UKers perspective.

Never worry about having a beer in Vegas at 6am. That's standard behaviour. No problem at all when you consider you are well into the afternoon Scottish time :)

Was hilarious! My wife apologised but the two guys at the table said they loved it because it was such a buzz. I couldn't get my head round how random that was though. Meet a homeless guy drinking 2/11 beer. Go to casino later and bet they numbers and win! Couldn't make that up!
