I don't have a host with any MGM props yet. I'm going to talk to some when I go out though. I think I am finally to the point where one will benefit me and also where my bankroll is noticeable to the casino. I love The Mirage's set up with the big boards and screens but never took note of Aria's as I haven't spent much time there other than a couple craps sessions a few years ago.

If I do pick up a host in Sept then I will see about nabbing a seat for an Oct trip. A Palazzo host e-mailed me so that is where the first half of my trip will be but I dislike the book set up at Venetian. I will probably do Saturday college at Aria/Mirage and then book a couch at Lagasse's for the Eagles game on Sunday.

    Thanks for your insight!

I agree concerning the Venetian book.

And not to discourage you from Aria (because I like it), but keep two things in mind: first, I may not have described it well enough, but the sportsbook at Aria is the opposite of the Mirage. If you prefer the big open book with some giant screens, then Mirage, Caesars and Mandalay Bay are the places for you. Aria has a couple big screens, but they are not side by side. And they designed it to feel intimate and less like a giant sports cave. check it out next time you are there. Second, the hosts at Aria are really hit or miss. Plenty of folks on this Board (myself included) have written about problems with the Aria marketing people. I went through a few hosts before I arrived at the one I have now (and I only met her on a recommendation from someone else). She is great. But it can take a little work to find a good one there who you might mesh with. Good luck

thanks for the info.. i was just wondering since i HATE being stingy with theo and fighting them over avg bet and losses and wins and such...
u spend way too little for your play.. i can get away with no problem spending 500 per day on food, spa, and show tickets besides the comped suite.. and i play like 30% smaller than you
i'm gonna try and spend 1000 a day next trip and see if they have no problems with it

I know, I've heard that before. And I know I am in the minority here, but I have a very different view regarding comps. I don't really care if I am leaving something on the table, as long as everything I want is taken care of (which it is). I know that outlook runs contrary to just about everyone else on the Board, but expending energy worrying about whether I got everything I am "entitled" to just doesn't interest me. I don't eat much meat and I don't drink fancy wine. So a big dinner bill for me is a few hundred dollars. Plus, honestly, I am not sure what more I could get that I don't already get. I'm not a High Roller, so I won't get those comps. And I already get a fancy suite, comps for all my food, transport everywhere, comped tables at clubs, free show tickets, reserved seats in the sportsbook, retail shopping (at least at the casinos that do that), and invites to tournaments and events for players at my level. I go to vegas so often that I don't feel the need to do all of that every time I am there (e.g., I go to a club maybe once a year). The result is plenty of trips where I might be in town for just a couple days and only run up a couple hundred dollars in room charges. But I know my hosts remember that when I take trips with groups of friends and the room charges are a lot more. So I am not sure what I am really leaving on the table anyway.

UKFanatic. Very nice post. Love reading your TR.
I think you gamble more than me, but I like your approach. I do the same when I go alone I just gamble. I may catch a show but most times I just gamble or work and play on my computer when I'm in Vegas. That is why I love the Express Comps at MLIFE and CET's Reward Credits. It lets me save up so when I bring the wife or with the guys I can always use them.

Thanks. My solo trips sound similar to yours. I expect to try a slightly different trip (more variety) when I go back in about a month. I am trying to motivate myself to write a live TR with a lot of pictures (similar to what JD has done his past two trips). I will wait and see how motivated I am by August

Good stuff, UK...thanks again. I'm curious to see how my action is viewed but my philosophy on comps is very similar to yours. I am not a wine or fancy dinner person. I'm good with a nice steak and a couple buffets or whatever since I don't eat too much while I am out there. If I have my room covered with a bit of food and maybe a couple show tickets for when I am with my girlfriend and a sportsbook seat then I am content.

Anything above that and it's a bonus.

Great post. It's refreshing to to hear a comfort level with their gambling vs. comps. Fantastic.
