Rooms better at Monte Carlo or MGM?

We are trying to decide between Monte Carlo and MGM and using MyVegas rewards. I have stayed at MC years ago, and it was nice, but small and basic. I hear they really need to update and remodel, but I do like the pool there. We are used to Suites at MB, The Hotel, Encore, Mirage, so this will be a down grade for us, but alas, this is what is available for just a few days of our trip. The reward is for standard room at Monte Carlo or a room at the MGM. It's unclear if it's Petite King or Grand King. If it was Grand King, I'd go for that in a heartbeat, but I have a feeling it's the Petite King. I've never stayed at MGM, so I have no ideas what the rooms are like. If you had a choice, where would you choose? Location is not really an issue since we have a car and this is just a portion of our trip.

    Thanks for your input

I would take any room at MGM over Monte Carlo. Just me....

I think all the renovations at MGM are done now. If that's the case their rooms should be far nicer.

Agreed. The standard MGM rooms are nicer and more recently reonnovated

Just stayed at both, with a MyVegas reward at the Monte Carlo.
MGM was much nicer and freshly renovated. Also had the electric blackout shades.
Monte Carlo was clean, somewhat updated, and had the most amazing shower head I have ever experienced. :nworthy:

I would take MGM for the nice room, but Monte Carlo if you want a quiet one!

MC can be noisy if you have a strip view room. Even 25 floors up it's amazing how much noise comes through the closed windows. Some booming music from Diablo's or the other place and cars honking and revving their engines.

I'm a big Monte Carlo fan but MGM wins hands down.

I'll make it easy: Monte Carlo still doesn't have property-wide WIFI (seriously, what year is this?!)

The standard room at MGM is definitely nicer than the standard room at MC also. If location doesn't matter, MGM is easily the better choice. You can always get a monorail voucher also, if you want to head up north on the strip

Since you are using myVegas MGM is a much better room. If you are paying....MGM has become very expensive ( compared to pre redo)....MC is in need of a face lift. I believe we will see MC prices jump if they ever get the renovated rooms done. So for free MGM better....if paying they don't really compare at all.

MGM Grand king/queen rooms are really nice! I LOVE the blackout shade...even though it caused me to sleep through my third round of a slot tournament earlier this year.

I also find the MGM layout to be easy to navigate.

I have never stayed at MC though...but I have been very happy with my rooms at MGM.

The myvegas comp room is the petite king. You will usually be able to trade up out of that for a few dollars or a winning smile.

If you are comparing the Monte Carlo standArd to an mgm petite king, then it is a pretty close call.

I got the grand king when on the phone with myVegas. Didn't even ask for an upgrade. The Grand King definitely blows MC out of the water and is definitely worth whatever they would charge for an upgrade. I've heard others on here get it for $15 more per night. It's worth that.

When was this? Was it combined with a non-myVegas reservation?
