I have a question. I have two comp nights in a studio terrace at the Cosmo. At check in, say they offered me a wrap around suite for $50/100 (whatever the amount) and I took it. Would my room comp value be based on the studio or the wrap around. Would it be the same as doing a $20 sandwich, getting an upgrade, and your room comp then being based off the new room?

I don't know about Cosmo, but I just asked Hunter (a host at PH), basically the same question.

If I'm comped in a small suite, but at check in, I'm upgraded to a much higher suite (as part of my 7 star benefits), my back end comps are reduced since the value of the upgraded suite is much larger. Part of his response was that I could choose to not accept the upgrade and have larger back end comps.

On a related question - does Mlife use a base rate for room comps,or does it vary based on the CURRENT rates for rooms. For example, the room rates at Mandalay Bay this coming weekend are double, almost triple what some weekends are. Will that impact what my host looks at when I get ready to leave?

no, every room has a fixed comp value.

most have week/weekend rates, other than the villas.

Thanks Shifter. At MB this weekend, and the rates have jumped way up, especially for Sun and Mon nights. Base room rates are showing $355 for those two nights. They are having concerts Sat (Bryan Adams) and Sunday (Neil Diamond). Can not find anything happening on Monday/Tuesday to justify those high rates.

So it's the same, whether I actually pay for an upgrade or sandwich for an upgrade? Hmmm..

re: Bryan Adams. He is Saturday night. Why would Sun and Mon night rates be so high?

Bryan Adams is going to play for 72 hours straight. Nothing but a constant loop of Summer of '69 with an occasional Cuts Like A Knife interlude.

If you are paying for the upgrade, then you're not getting comped the wraparound, you're still just getting comped the studio.

If they put you in a wraparound without you having to pay more, then yes, now you're getting comped the wraparound. Using the $20 trick I imagine falls under this scenario as well, you're not really paying for the upgrade.

Not sure I've ever heard of being offered a paid upgrade on a comp room.

I don't believe their systems will do that.

Shucks. Well I guess I'll see what I can get as an upgrade. Thanks for the info.
