Ok so I know my way around most strip properties but I have a trip planed May 2-6 for a bachelor party staying At the Rio. We decidided on the Rio due to the weekend being busy, generally I can get comps at most CET properties but not this weekend. Here's the question originally we were going to have 6-8 guys but it looks like we now have 5. We have two rooms booked one comped and one at a friends and family rate. we are thinking about dropping one room and all staying in one room and one person sleeping on the couch. Problem is all the pictures I can find of the rooms seem to have different couches in them. Does anyone know what the chances of the couch being full size or not? Or what tower I need to ask for to get a full size couch?

I was there last week in the Masquerade Tower. The couch was very big. It even curved around . IF any of you drink coffee, take some Keurig pods along. There is a coffee maker but the coffee is in the mini bar. There is no creamer or sugar either. I was prepared with all I needed for the first cup in the morning ! There were 2 sinks so that came in handy. One is outside of the bathroom.

I will be at Rio for the first time in a couple of weeks. I am aiming for the Ipinema Tower with a pool view. My suggestion would be have the shortest guy sleep on the sofa so you can get just one room, preferably comped. I don't know which Tower has bigger couches, but most i've seen are straight, that's why the little guy can come in handy.

I stayed at the Rio a couple of years ago and i'm pretty sure the sofa we had was actually a pull out sofa bed. I guess it's still the same? We were in the Ipanema tower. Best thing to do is ask at check in, a $20 bill may help.

It never occurred to me to check if the couch pulled out, but one trip we had someone sleep on the couch and they were comfortable on it. This was Ipenema while the original remodel was going on.

I'd think about keeping the extra room and use the $20 trick do get them adjoining..5 guys and a bachelor party just sounds like it could get uncomfortable at some point..I was there in Sept with 2 friends and we got the small couch so one guy just slept on the floor.I think that was the Masquerade tower. Have a good trip whatever you do!

The wife and I stayed there 4/12-4/16 and enjoyed the room. In my 20's that room would sleep 6-10, but these days it was nice for just us. I would say try for adjoining rooms with a split cost, but you can squeeze in if you have to. The $20 trick got us a strip view and a short walk (all that I asked for).

There is another queen to the right and the "galley" bath area behind

I stay at the Rio on my Vegas trips. I think one room is too small for five guys since you are staying four nights. I would shoot for connecting rooms and really enjoy yourself.

I agree. When you get a good deal the rooms are really cheap. Have everyone sign up for the new CET VISA to a) have resort fees waived, b) get free buffet passes for 24 hours and c) get $100 to spend on other meals & drinks.

To those who have recently stayed at Rio, my room for the week is comped (with no resort fees), and i was planning on asking for the Ipinema Tower around the 14, 15, 16th floor with a mountain or pool view. I plan on using the sandwich (even though i'm comped and no resort fee). Is this something i can ask for? Or is it something i can ask for without the sandwich? I don't need a Strip view and the Ipinema Towers are basically the same, minus the Strip view. I always do this at Bally's, South Tower (which is standard) but always ask for a high floor and never have to pay the extra $20.

    waverunner,

What type of room do you have reserved? If you were comped a Premium Suite, I would say no you do not have to tip $20, just ask for the high floor room in the Ipanema Tower with a view of the pool/strip.

I will be arriving at Rio about 3 days before you and I reserved a basic Deluxe Studio Suite w/2 Queens on full comp too. I plan on asking for a high floor room in the Ipanema Tower w/2 Queen Beds with a view of the pool/strip (w/Keurig machine and flat screen TV lol) AND I will tip them $20 if they can accomodate me... If not, no big deal and no $20 for them as they are giving me what I initially requested. :peace:

Thanks. I reserved a deluxe king suite which is standard. But i don't know what tower it is. I would rather have the Ipinema Tower at mid level because of various reasons, but it's confusing. I have always stayed on the Strip and would know what constitutes an upgrade, but Rio doesn't stipulate the difference except for a Strip view which is an upgrade. I don't care about a Strip view, i'm fine with a mountain or pool view. Don't all the rooms now have flat screen TV's? And the Keurig machine you have to pay $8 right?
So i don't know what constitutes an upgrade, other than the Strip view and the 1200 ft suite.

The last 2 times I've stayed at Rio I had a deluxe (standard) room reserved... Upon check-in (with $20 in hand), I was placed in a high floor room in the Ipanema Tower with a pool/strip view, a flat screen TV and a Keurig coffee machine.

My point is that if you really want to be placed in the high floor Ipanema Tower which includes all the nice amenities (with or without a nice view), is giving the desk clerk $20 going to break you if she gets you what you REALLY want?

For me, it's a NO and I don't mind giving someone a cash tip who's going to make my trip more enjoyable-- even though I really won't be in my room LOL!

Also, last November (the last time I was there) my brother stayed in a deluxe king and he didn't have a flat screen TV nor a Keurig machine in his room. Not sure if all the rooms are upgraded now but I'll ask the clerk when I arrive there in 13 days! :nworthy:

I think you can just ask for the Ipanema tower if you aren't picky about view.

Are you renting a car ? If so, the Masquerade tower is much handier . It is closer to the parking garage. We parked on the top level and just walked in . You walk thru Burger King , down an escalator and the elevators are not very far for the Masquerade Tower.

Our room had a Keurig. We took our own pods , coffeemate and sugar. I am thinking it was 8 or 9 dollars for 3 pods which are in the mini bar.

I guess we have been lucky, but everytime we have got a room at the Rio we get the big couch. We will actually be there tomorrow:wave:

I will be at the Rio next week, on a comped stay.

Question: On a comped stay, with no resort fee, will I get free internet?

No, i am also at Rio in 10 days comped and resort fee (i booked prior to April 1st. I will not use the Internet mainly because staying in Vegas gives me the opportunity to be myself....lol.
From what i was told over the phone and the website, if your room is comped and no resort fee, you will be charged for Internet usage per day if you decide to use it. It's not free.

Thanks Annie. The reason why i want the Ipinema Tower is because i can no longer (at least for now) drive my car (or rent a car) due to health reasons. Also, the Ipinema tower is close to the shuttle and also the bus stop (to go back and forth to/from the Strip). So my preference is a pool view, which when i use the $20 trick may happen, in the Ipinema. Also, i just received an e-mail from Rio congrats me on choosing Rio and offering me a Strip view for $10 more per night. I probably won't take it because it will be $50 and no guarantee of the Ipinema tower.
I am primarily a Tea drinker, but i don't know if the water at the sink will be hot enough, so i may buy a few pods for the week and "settle" for coffee......LOL.
