I am very picky about cleanliness not necessarily fancy/plushness.I know everything else about these location....walk, etc. I have comp at Rio and 30.00 a night at Gold Coast. I really do not mind paying if the room is cleaner better kept.

Which one to stay at? tried to search but could not really find a comparison just based on rooms. thanks :peace:

My wife (a clean freak) and I have stayed at the Gold Coast more then 10 times. The room has always been clean. I have never stayed at the Rio so I cannot compare. We will be back at he Gold Coast for final four weekend.

Based on what you're saying, I'd choose the Rio. I really do believe they're both equally clean, but if I had to choose for you, I'd say Rio. Not by a landslide or anything, though.

The couple times we have stayed at the Rio, the rooms were always immaculate !! The rooms at the Rio are also larger than the Gold Coast, plus a small fridge, and coffee-maker ... and you have it comped free !!!! To me, it's a no brainer ... RIO !!!

However ... if you are a video poker player, the better games are at the Gold Coast ... and the buffet is also much cheaper there.

We stayed at the Gold Coast 2 weeks ago, and I am posting this message from my room at the Rio. We were in one of the newly renovated rooms at the Gold Coast and am currently in a recently renovated room at the Rio (the carpet still has the new carpet smell). Honestly, they are/were both very clean upon check in. The housekeeping at the GC was fine, all areas touched upon. Since we just checked in today at Rio, I can't comment on the daily housekeeping, just that it is perfect upon checkin.

When comparing the 2 hotels, the Rio rooms are huge compared to the GC...especially when you look at the bathrooms. Although the bathroom at GC was clean and new, it was VERY small. At the Rio, our room has a bathroom with a toilet, tub and sink with good size countertop. Then outside of the bathroom is a 2nd sink with a HUGE countertop. Tons of storage at Rio compared to GC, plus there aren't any in-room safes at GC. The Rio rooms include a fridge. Coffee makers in both hotels.

Personally, I would stay at either, but during the hotter months I would choose Rio for the central air conditioning, rather than the window units at GC. Based on room alone, I would vote for Rio.

I've stayed in both and thought housekeeping was excellent at both. I can't think of anything in terms of room amenities that would justify paying more for GC.

Does GC beds still have that rubberized mattress protector ?
I found it kinda annoying....clammy feeling.
    .
    Gaming = GC
    Pool + Rooms = Rio

Thanks all for the replies. Looner thanks, since you have stayed in both the last 2 weeks...good feedback to know. Just not sure what room they will give me for the comp at RIO. I only put about 100.00 on my TR card and they sent me comp so I am a newbie. (VS the 3500.00 at MGM and they have given me nothing but a gold card...LOL ) I really do not care what view just prefer a newer remodel.

I will be staying at RIO in May. Never stayed at RIO as i preferred the Strip, but the rooms are comped. So what i might do is slip a $20 and ask for the Ipanema Tower on a higher floor. At least that is what i've been told. Don't have a car but the Shuttle will do for trips to/from the Strip.

I have stayed at both every September the past 10 years or so.Cleanliness is the same, never came across anything bad in either property.

But as others have mentioned, the bathroom at the GC is WAY too small. You need to lay out the ironing board to spread your toiletries out on...The coffee maker is that older design, last trip the Rio had a nicer new design (Sorry forget the name, but it's popular),Also the fridge and room safe and much larger living area make the Rio the place to stay.
The pluses on the GC side are normal prices in the gift shop for beer, liquor, snacks etc. and the VP paytables..A lot better than the Rio.
Rio's sportsbook is nice also but better lines might be found at the GC..Bet there and watch the games at the Rio..
    Have a great trip!!

Rio and it is not even close. GC seems to be a luckier casino for me, and that ping pang pong chinese food is awesome, but the rio in a heartbeat over the GC, especially if comped. I've stayed at both, and the rio is a superior property, the casino is less smoky as well.
