    Quick questions....

Do you find the 20 trick doesn't work if your trip is booked via Expedia or another third party?

Is there a free shuttle from the Rio to Freemont street?

Do they still do the Mardi Gras in the sky in the casino daily at The Rio?

Years back there was a fabulous Mexican place at the rio. Second floor overlooking the casino. I know it was gone 5 years ago. Was it ever replaced? Anybody else remember this place?

How are the pools or pool at Rio? Loud party like TI or relaxing and quiet like Golden Nugget?

Is Gold Coast across the street a good option for low end blackjack? Like double deck blackjack and 5 dollar tables?

Pretty sure the pools are quiet in the daytime.I used to love the big marguarita in the Rio logo'ed glass from the mexican place.I'm looking at one right now I took home.
That was great, homemade chips and salsa at the bar out front.I still go back every year but I miss the Rio of years ago.
    Have a great trip !!

I've stayed at the Rio a few times in the past 3-4 years. Overall I like it. It's a bit worn, CET isn't sticking much money into the place, I wish they'd just sell it. Guy Fieri has a new Mexican place that recently opened, haven't been there yet. It replaced Buzios seafood restaurant. I haven't played BJ at the GC but there are always $5 tables there, craps and BJ.

As far as the $20 trick, it always works for me there but I've always booked through Total Rewards and not with a third party site. You're checking in on a Tuesday, I would bet it will work for you regardless of how you booked your room.

I like the pool area. In May it will get crowded but it's not a wild party atmosphere. Piped in music but not blaring. Good service.

I tough I posted a reply yesterday, but I don't see it so here I go again:
I stayed at the Rio for a convention as well last fall. First of all ask for the Ipanema tower it would save you walking time from the convention center to your room. It is also closer to the shuttle and main valet, the shuttle to the strip is located by the exit where the buffet is located, from the strip you can take another shuttle to downtown, but the time it takes to get there with the shuttle you are better off grabbing an uber. The show in the sky is long gone as they mention you can still see the rails in the roof.

He has opened a few threads around here asking pretty much the same stuff about the Rio so you probably replied in one of the others :)
