I plan on using Lyft on my next time out. Should I sit in front or back?

I always sit in the back. Uber or lyft. I haven't really asked but I think most drivers expect/prefer that.

always the back unless you have enough people where someone has to sit up front.. lots of drivers will leave lunch, water bottle, or papers or something in the front seat as a subtle way of saying get the heck in the back seat dude!

I drove for Uber over the summer last year just for something to do while the kids were away. I personally preferred to have the person sitting in the front. I just found it easier to engage them in conversation plus keep an eye on them incase they were getting ready to light up or something, I have a no smoking in my car/house rule and it is strictly enforced.

I always sit in front out of habit. In the outlaw days when a lot of cities banned the services, Lyft encouraged people to sit up front. Officially it was to foster a sense of community and unofficially it made it look to cops like a friend was picking you up. Uber started out as a luxury car company (UberX wasn't added until later) so they never emphasized the sit in front thing. I've found that sitting in front lets the driver know I'm a long time customer and puts them more at ease. I'm not sure if it makes a difference in a newer market like Las Vegas. I've never done the fist bump though.
