    Elevators:

So yea the elevators here suck. Waited 30mins for one to stop on the 5th of July only to have it full. Still fit the gf in there and decided my time would be better spent hauling my luggage down the stairs 18 floors. I felt sorry for the family of 5 waiting there from before we got there with all their luggage. Pretty sure I heard them start to walk the stairs when I was nearing the bottom.

    Plumbing:

Very very slow. Multiple times I had the sink in the bathroom fill up and drain slowly from just brushing my teeth or washing my hands. Water pressure from the shower head was a joke and trying to figure out how to use the showers took a little bit too as the directions on the knob are wrong.

    Rooms:

Regular King room was sufficient minus the lack of fan in the bathroom. Massive quantities of alcohol + bad eating = room stinking for an hour+ if you need to use the bathroom.

    VP bars:

Downstairs has a great bar but dont bother sitting there during a huge concert outside. People will literally come inside and lean on you as you're trying to play. I got disgusted by this thing that thought it was ok to wedge between her friends chair and mine and another person that was leaning on the back of my chair. I decided to cash out and head to the upstairs bar which was a TON better but lacked the brand new machines of downstairs bar.

    Customer Service:

None, we called down multiple times to try and get a late checkout but no one ever picked up the call. Good thing I didnt bother trying to go down and do it in person because I would've been waiting on the elevator for an hour.

    Grade: D
So there you have. Ill write a detailed TR w/ VP porn later but I figured I should get this review out there asap incase someone is on the fence about staying at the D. We'll be taking our business to Golden Nugget next time and only spend time on the second floor D bar/sigma derby on future trips.

The music was great. It was a good selection of dub/house I think. Im not a music nut so its very hard to me to properly identify the genre. During the daytime the music volume wasn't too high and sitting at the bar was an enjoyable experience. Also watching all the flair bartenders practice their craft was awesome.

I think if i went on a non holiday and stayed elsewhere, I would've graded the D a lot higher.

Sorry to read the bad report but thanks for posting it. I'm still deciding where to stay downtown if I go in October.

All this renovation and rebranding and renaming Fizgeralds, but damn, for as long as I can remember, the elevators were some of the worst in all of LV. I had visited a friend that now lives out of state but was in LV the same time I was and staying at The Fitz, (in 2005!!!) and same shit back then. Slow, scary and we often took the stairs. Guess the best things in life don't change...:wink2:

I've never stayed there, but I like the new look. It's one of my new favorite places. I can see how the band overflow could get to you. I've been belly up at the Long Bar several times and loved it. Part of the reason was not only the bands outside, but I like the music they play inside. Not always my favorite, but I like that there is music. I used to like going to Hard Rock for the same reason, but Hard Rock is just so dang depressing now.

I have to (sadly) agree wholeheartedly on all counts. Love the casino and what they've done to the place. But I stayed there a month ago and while there were some positives, overall I was disappointed. Would not stay again.

    I miss the Fitz :(

Having said that, we have always gotten on an elevator going up in order to go down when it is busy there. Especially when we are on a higher floor.

We do prefer being there during the week when it is less busy though, it does get filled up on weekends and holidays.

Funny you mention that because we tried that too. The 30mins we were waiting two elevators going up stopped and each was already over packed. They really have to fix that elevator situation imo. 4 for the whole hotel is pretty absurd.

I stayed at the d friday the 5th and saturday the 6th and had a pretty good experience.

checked in very late friday with no wait and room was spotless and everything worked great.

saturday evening some very noisy people checked in above me so I called front desk and within ten minutes a guy was at the door with keys to move me to a top floor room.

The elevator was a bit slow a couple of times but have had much worse.
the only thing that disappointed me was they no longer have the nice open courtyard grille upstairs. I liked eating breakfast there with the open atmosphere where you could look out over the casino area.

Stayed there when it was the Fitz. Looking forward to seeing all of the changes on ours next trip. We've had to wait 5-10 min for an elevator but never more than that. I use a mobility scooter so stairs are not an option.

    No problem

I'm with BlackJackLady... I use a mobility scooter also and I stayed there for 6 days the last week of December and had no problem at all with the elevator. Most times it came right away... only once did I wait more than a minute or two and that was because the scooter takes up a lot of space and I let the elevator with a couple of people on it go on down and waited for the next one.

Also, I liked my room and had no problem with the plumbing. The room compared favorably with nice rooms I've had on the strip, not fancy, but certainly attractively decorated, a comfortable bed, etc... and I was satisfied.

I visited the D during my last vist. It was a very fast visit. First the parking garage was- lets say interesting- finally found a space, got mums walker out waited for an elevator, down tothe casino. Ok we need players cards , join the queue which seemed to take forever to deal with anyone. Got to the front eventually. Can I have a players card please? Hand over driving licence. Oh you are from the UK - well England but UK will do, Yes we are. Well in that case can I see your passport? err why? its our policy. Sorry I dont carry it around with me why do you need it? its our policy. grrrrr So i asked if Canadians need to show it- no their driving licence is good. Mexicans? same answer. Soo you are showing racial discrimination towards Brits? Its our policy- ooohhh bad timing of your fave phrase there lol. We turned and walked straight into the queue for the elevator back to the car. We wont be back. Went to the GN instead where the valet recognised us from a previous visit and let us in the full valet park :)

Ouch, that f'in blows. It really seems to me like D is all aesthetics with very little substance. I think I could find better customer service at a motel.

Just got back last night and stayed 5 nights at the D.

Rooms- Corner king on the 10th floor. View was ok but I am not there for the view. The corner kings have a nice chair and big leather couch so for me its worth the money.

Great tvs with decent channels so thats always a plus for me as well. They also have a coffee pot that is pay per servung type so didnt use that. A nice touch is the fridge the rooms had. Not a mini bar thing byt an empty fridge for beers!! cant beat that.

The beds were really comfy and I used to sell mattresses so I can tell what they are made of.

I stayed there when it was the fitz and it was just ok and I did not stay agaon primarily because the elevators were so slow. Di not have that problem this time, they worked great and i didnt mind going up and down to the room for this and that.

Workers- I love the people who work there. I dont ask for some over the top level of service though. What i like is that they will stop what they are doing and shoot the breeze with you or talk about how much they like the new ownership, that sort of stuff goes a long way with me because it tells me they really like working there so that trickles down to the guests. I talk to them all the time and none of them even had a smart comment about the place, they all liked working there. rare in todays world.

The D Grill- this place is a diamond in the rough for sure. It used to be just an open room with nothing special foods and cheap specials. They sort of stepped it up a bit from that and serve comfort foods like meatloaf and fired chicken but it is a few more buckes then the dirt cheap places but onlky a few. A meal for 2 was about $30 so hthats hardly breaking the bank but still more then a hot dog.

The food was really good for the price. I had the fried chicken and it came with a nice salad and some sort of garlic buttered rolls that were the best i have ever had. I ate 2 full baskets of the rolls they were so good. i would buy them if I could to go. The fried chicken meal is enourmous, hash house a go go sized. 4 giant pieces plus mashed potatoes and veggies. We also got a fish and chips and it was equally as big.

We had 2 $10 f/b credit coupons that we combined so the meal came to under $10. Man what a deal. Outstanding food and lots of it plus the server Kevin was top notch. I will eat every meal there next trip.

I will only stay at the D from now on and cant wait to get back there.

The premium corner kings are the same as the regular just on the higher floors. When you look at the d you will see it has 2 towers. Floor 17 is where the two come together. The premiums are in the higher tower so they will be newer and quieter as well. might be a bit bigger.

Check out the 17th floor, the "secret" floor. They are still redoing it and are going to make it for high rollers with chairmans suites and the like. it still has the fitz motif going and is under construction. i really wanted to snoop around but chickened out.
