$500/day Should get ~$150ish in comps each day you are there, which should be a free room at least.

Diamond player

May be $100/day 60 days a year.


If you go for 10 days and the Diamond player goes for 60 days. They don't have a problem giving you 10 free nights. They won't give that diamond player 60 free nights though.

 

I sent this e-mail yesterday to Caesars...

Can you clarify the CET policy on resort fees versus comps? I have heard, but not seen in official writing, that Platinum and above players are exempt from the new resort fees if they are staying on a comp.

I received this response today...

 

As a Diamond member, you are exempt from paying resort fees, regardless if you are on a comp stay or not. The resort fee includes wi-fi internet for one device, access for two patrons to the fitness center daily, and complimentary local calls. You will have the opportunity to add the resort package to your reservation at the time of check in.

The way I read that: "You don't have to pay the resort fees -- but you won't get the wi-fi, gym access or free local calls either." Which is fine, that's what a fee should be!

 

Yup, there's 2 things bad here (in general).

1. You have to pay for things that were free before.

Fair enough. Prices go up for things. However the real travesty is....

2. You have to pay for those amenities whether or not you use them.

Foul.

Vote with your wallets or at least, as much as you can bare.

 

Just a quick correction ... they weren't free before. They were optional for everyone for separate fees.

They were NEVER free anywhere? I thought wifi was complimentary at many places before. The same for the gym.

This makes it worse.

Everyone is being slapped with a fee for something they may not have asked for.

Dumb.

Many people use wifi. Many people don't use the gym.

In any event, as I said before go anywhere else (in a metro area) and parking runs $15-$30 per day.

 

I think wifi may have been free at the mgm places pre-resort fee. Although some of them may have been wired internet, not wifi back then.

AFAIK, it was always a surcharge at CET though.

 

Before the resort fee days, Vegas hotels charged for wired Internet service as Wi-Fi wasn't that wide spread. MGM Resorts just recently began offering free Wi-Fi in the casino, which really goes against the access granted via the resort fee. CET though, charged (and still only allows) connection per device, not by room which MGM Resorts does.
