How crucial are reservations to moderate restaurants like Puck's Bar and Grill, KGB, Brand an so on? On our last visit reservations were hard to get at Pucks yet only 3 or 4 tables were in use when we arrived.

Granted we've never visited WPB&G at high tide, but we've never had to wait for a table. And I've never seen it packed to the point that you couldn't get in -- maybe on special event nights or something. But on your average Tuesday or whatever? I'd be stunned if they were completely booked.

Thanks for the response. Guess I'll go but have a backup plan for dinner for Puck's.

I usually make reservations for Friday and Saturday nights at popular restaurants. Other nights - not necessary (unless a holiday or something really big is in town).

It's so easy to make, and cancel, reservations on a computer or with your phone for many/most of the popular restaurants in Vegas. I'll usually make one and if plans change or the time won't work I just cancel or change it on my phone in a few seconds. Sure I've showed up with a reservation for places that had plenty of empty tables but other times I'm glad I made one or we would have had a long wait.

Is there any downside to making a reservation?

No downside unless you are a no show in which case 2 strikes and you are out.

Sadly I thought a month was far enough out for reservations and it is not.

I only make reservations for a meal that is very important. Anniversary, birthday etc. For that reason I'll make the reservation no matter what day or time of the week way in advance.
