I am staying at the Palazzo and have booked a rental van from Avis for a couple of days that needs to be picked up from the airport rental car centre. I understand that there is a shuttle you can catch from the strip to pick up the car. Can someone tell me where you get that from, how often it goes and is there a cost for that. Thanks.

Free shuttle buses to car rentals are lower level/ground floor of McCarren. The buses are plentiful and all you need is to stand in line.

There isn't a shuttle from the strip to the rental center. It is at the airport.

Poster needs transportation to the rental center that's serviceable by the free shuttle.

Miniwhale is correct, there is no free shuttle from mid strip (Palazzo) to the rental car. center that I'm aware of. The only free shuttle runs from the airport to the rental center, which is what the previous poster is referring to. I don't think you want to take the time to take a cab or limo to the airport, just to get on the free shuttle to the rental center, so again, the answer mini gave is correct.

As said, the free rental car shuttle only runs from the airport to the rental car centre and then back to the airport.

You have a few options though.

You could take the city bus to the airport for $2 and then catch the free shuttle to the rental car centre. I'm not exactly sure where Palazzo is but you can catch the WAX (Westcliffe-Airport Express) bus in front of the Premium Outfits or Tropicana. Here's a link to the route and stops. http://www.rtcsnv.com/wp-content/uploads/routes/2014/09/WAX.pdf

You could take a cab to the rental centre and if you don't get long hauled, it should cost around $20.

You could also try to change your rental reservation (depending on Avis's pick-up locations) so that you pick up your car at one of the casinos on the strip.

    Have fun!

Didn't try to mislead poster. I did mean the free shuttle runs FROM Mccarren TO the car rental stalls. Everything else............your on your own.
