There's talk of renovations to the Ipanema tower rooms on another thread. Any recent updates? Returning there in 19 sleeps and can't wait BUT as my wife was bearly convinced to go to LV at all...I might want to split my stay with an MGM property but she doesn't want to move. Have a rental car so might do Valley of Fire tour if it's too hot at the pool.
Any RECENT ( 3-4 month) RIO news?? Photos?
    Thanks in advance!

THANKS Mango68. I've stayed at RIO several times. Ask for a room in the Ipanema Tower, Higher floor and CLOSE TO THE ELEVATOR as those Halls get very long! A pool view is preferred too and away from any renovations going on.
Looking forward to your report and about all the jackpots you won.

I think they would rather sell it then remodel.

Yeah well, that isn't gonna happen anytime soon. Every potential
new buyer wants the World Series Of Poker tossed in too and CET
    won't give that up, lol.

I just got back...I stay in Ipamima Tower, pool/Strip view.
I actually had one of the renovated rooms this time...not much
difference actually, but it wasn't as beat up as most of their rooms
are. It's old info now, but the next work on referb room will be in
Masquarade Tower...Ipanima has already been done. (years back now,
    but still newer than Masquerade)

We got the upsell email a few days ago and my hubby called and took it..so will definitely have a higher floor and strip view. Not sure of the tower..but 15.00 per night upsell on a comped room still is a good price! Fingers crossed on the jackpots!

I haven't seen or heard any

I'm in the Impanema tower now, on the 14th floor. I haven't seen or heard any construction going on here, nor heard anybody talking/complaining about any.

    Finally!

Just got back from 3 days at Rio

We were in the Masquerade Tower, mini-suite on 19th floor facing highway/strip view. No construction anywhere in the hotel that we could see. Our room didn't seem beat up or old..except the old fashioned tv. Irish Pub is closed. 2 Starbucks on site. Casino a bit dark and limited on some slot machines. Skip the Seafood Buffet unless you get a good discount. We're from the Pacific NW and it wasn't up to West Coast standards. World Buffet is good, lots of different ethnic choices. Pool very nice, no problem finding chairs before noon. Adult Pool is closed Tues and Wednesdays. Go up to Voodoo before 10pm and there is no cover charge. The glass elevator ride up is breathtaking. Great view from the patio bar! We walked over to the Palms and Gold Coast both..Palms casino is very nice. Gold Coast not so much, but it is old school. Enjoyed Penn and Teller very much! Did the shuttle to the strip with no problems. We were there during the 114 degree heat so waiting for 15 minutes in the sun could be a problem for some. Overall, for the price, a nice place to stay!
