    My Trip Report

Good buddy Phileas has a week of work in Vegas, so I'm following him and his wife for a long weekend.

He's an Alice In Chains fan, so we'll hit their show at The Joint Saturday.

I think I know one Alice In Chains song, but I don't mind. First time for seeing a show at The Joint.

After checking iTunes, I apparently know more of their songs than I thought. I recognize four and a half.

Expect lots of VP and BJ, quite a few cigars and single malts for myself.

Also might do some VP machine red light-green light testing when I get to the Cosmo. I'm an engineer by training, so I'm curious.

Have a great trip! You're 3.5 songs ahead of me on knowing Alice In Chains' body of work!

No offense, remmerde, but I try to avoid your neck of the woods, as I still need my Slauson. :D

Classic Carson!!! Happy travels and thank you!

I ventured to Chicago to see Guns n Roses on July 3rd and Alice n Chains opened for them. They are an excellent, very well put together band. I thought about seeing them Saturday also but I'm sort of leaning towards the Route 91 country fest as Brad Paisley plays Saturday night.

Did the rare circle-the-drain approach but I was on the wrong side window.

Oof, longest wait for the rental shuttle that I ever remember. About 45 minutes. Should have ubered it over to the rental center.

Hard Rock not kind to me, staying on partial offer, first time staying here and all you got is smoking rooms? Bad start if HR wants me to come back.

Red Bull and vodka to wake me up. Cohiba Robusto to calm me down.

CoRo and RBV obviously bringing me luck early.

This is an issue at many places with late weekend arrivals. We had Rio trying to move us into an upgraded smoking room at 9p on a Saturday once. We refused the upgrade.

    And nice hit!

Only been here a few hours and already Hard Rock is got me 90% of the way to "do not ever stay here again" status.

Loud party in next door room. Well okay, I'll just go down and gamble it up until 4am. Return to room at 4am, party still loud, and security guy in the hallway very meekly telling them to keep it down. (I did not call them, so obviously someone else complained.)

But the "crowning turd in the water pipe", as General Melchett would put it, I have no do not disturb sign in my room. Stop by front desk...they don't have any, have to call housekeeping.

"Okay tell them to put one on my door," I ask.

"I don't think we can do that."

    Okay forget it.

I might be calling my CET host in the morning to see if he can rescue me for the rest of this trip.

HRH either thinks they're on the strip or thinks it's still 2005

Ohhhh Nooooo... I hate to hear my favorite joint (HRH) is disappointing you! Am sure hoping things get better. About 1 out of 10 trip there, I find I have no DND sign, but I have like a pre-downstairs checklist... before I unpack a thing, I check the A/C and the TV's to make sure they work and nothing weird. I also look for the DND sign, if none there, I call down right then and ask them to put one on my door. They've always done it for me.

Depending on the tower you're in, Hard Rock can be noisy. Casino Tower is by far the worst, with Paradise Tower a distant second and HRH Tower generally pretty quiet. I ALWAYS request a room at the end of the hall, which help a lot, but arriving later as you did, I'm sure you had few options.

Hope you win BIG... that'll take some of the sting out of things!!!

Well the Bose wave radio next to the bed set on a FM frequency that no station broadcasts on sufficed nicely as a white noise cover to the party next door.

Going to tough it out here as Phileas and Mrs. Phileas arriving later today and also staying at HRH.

Still no do not disturb sign. But no knock on the door at an unholy hour, thankfully.

Phileas and Mrs. Phileas arrive later than I thought, so headed to Mandalay Bay.

Ah, just experimentally answered one of the questions over in the MGM parking fee thread.

I'm Mlife pearl now thanks to their credit card. But still only had my sapphire level players card.

But it worked at the self park entrance gate! So it does seem your card checks your current status live, rather than something statically encoded on the card itself.

Some teases and finally a little rebate on the beating I took at BJ and craps last night.
