On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate yourself on the following, and why:

    1. How well do you plan?

    2. How detailed is your plan?

    3. How closely do you complete your plan?

I rate all our travel planning as high, even when there is little more than an entry and exit strategy.

I'm a fanatic about it... my wife says lunatic! Since most of my visits are short (2-3 days) and almost always include a sizable portion of business, I try really hard to schedule meetings so as to maximize the available "fun time". I learned long ago not to try and do too much though, but I build in the "fun time" on the side of town I find myself for business. I'm really good about checkin' out the new attractions, etc. Though the Hard Rock remains home-base, I'm pretty good about seeing good portions of the town each visit.

I am uber-organized when it comes to planning. A result of it being my nature and also because of my job.

    Straight 10s across.

Of course, we are also prepared to change plans faster than a showgirl changes costumes. Plan A will be pretty detailed, Plan B less so, and Plan C basically "Wing it!" We always have options laid out for just about any deviation from Plan A. Most of those options begin with "Have another drink and relax. It's Vegas!"

I rate myself 10's. I always get a flight, a hotel and get back on time. The rest is mostly done on the ground there :D.

Same here, all 10's – we book our flights and rooms, arrive, and depart as planned. We might have a pretty good idea where and when to have dinner, but since nothing's definite, it's hard to screw up. Simple - although sometimes we mess up the "winning" part really bad.

    8. Someone always does a better job than me.

8 again. Generally know which restaurants we'll be eating at every night (and have made a couple dinner reservations), which shows we'll be going to, and what other non-gaming activities we want to do.

    9. I generally want to stick to the plan.

For our next trip we'll be planning less and taking a more laid back approach.

    1. How well do you plan?
6... get the flight, get the room, but thats about it

    2. How detailed is your plan?
3... never really have much of a plan other than where we are staying. Vegas is always about being spontaneous for us!

    3. How closely do you complete your plan?
1/2... Always have a blast, never stick to a plan!

The plan seems to go out the window once the wheel touch down in Vegas

Plans are over rated, I like to fly by the seat of my pants

The only thing I plan is where im staying!

I started at solid 11's all the way. And over time my grades have slipped. I'm barely passing right now.

How well do I plan? 8. I get reservations for hotels, flights, shows and then call to confirm.

How detailed is my plan? 5. I don't do detailed plans, with the exception of shows. I might have a vague idea that I might want to eat in a certain place, e.g., Grand Lux and Peppermill, other than that, no plan, I just wing it.

How closely do you complete your plan? 5. I usually get to the shows I have booked. I always like to fleece/get fleeced in the Golden Nugget Poker Room. Other than that, it's all free form.

How well do I plan? 10 - Always have flights, rooms and shows booked, usually well in advance.
How detailed is my plan? 10 - Anything with a time constraint, like shows and dinner reservations, we are there. Other than that its pretty much free form.
How closely do you complete your plan? 8 - Stuff happens! What can I say???

Nothing in stone but ready for whatever.
I'm getting up around 4-5:00am so I print out LVA's 'Graveyard Specials' list. Will I want pancakes and coffee at 5:00am when I'm out there? I don't know, maybe.
I eat another meal during the day. I have a list of restaurants for different whims I may have. Will I want sushi (Goyamen is great), tacos (Taco Gordo), a steak dinner (I bring a plethera of coupons for several steak houses), a recomendation from Westie? What will I want? I don't know. But I'm prepared.
I might plan to see a special show...next trip is Sienfeld. But I have show tickets available from CZR to see several different shows if I feel like it. Planned, no. Ready to go if I'm in the mood, yes. I may just want to spend my evenings walking around. Who knows.
The point is, Vegas to me is: Do what you want to do when you want to do it. I don't like being tied down to any set plans yet I want to have the option to do many things if I so choose at the time.
...now, going to Europe, I have each day planned out completely after extensive research into the area that I will be visiting. Very anal about travel outside of Las Vegas. :)

    1. How well do you plan? 9 for planning

    2. How detailed is your plan? 5 because our plans are fairly generic. Being that we are on vacation we really don't want to be restricted, but do want to do certain items.

    3. How closely do you complete your plan? 5 because it varies. It is always good to leave a few items on the list as it is a good excuse to plan another trip.
