not by choice but by my travel companion's, we will be staying at harrahs for three nights. currently they have me in a 2 queen non smoking room in the mardi gras tower.

should i ask for a different room? what exactly should i ask for?

    thanks for your help

The harras is nice. My favorite. Can't remember what room I had last time I was there because I didn't really sleep in it much haha. But you'll enjoy it regardless. Great place to stay

i have stayed before but around ten years ago, can't remember anything really about the property. generally people say one tower is nicer than another whether its the rooms, view or what. this is a guys trip, no wives, so really will be a gamble fest with minimal sleeping. i just don't want to be in a rundown room.

We have been staying at CET properties and primarily Harrahs for 20 years. We are coming 2/21-2/28 staying in Carnival tower. We prefer the Carnival Tower because of extra closet space and more room in bath over Mardi Gras. Last year we were in Mardi Gras and room seemed smaller and we were next to elevator so heard it all night. Just try not to get over Carnival court and not at end of hall since some are very long!! You will love the location and have fun!!

The remodeled carnival tower rooms look really nice, I would request one of those. I don't care for jarrahs much but I have stayed there and it is fine. The location is great with access to the dining at Venetian/palazzo. The link is next door and TI is close for good gambling. After seeing the new carnival tower rooms I would consider staying there again.

I've stayed there twice and while it showed its age it was fine. I made sure to get the tower away from Carnaval Court so I wasn't kept awake from the bands.

The location is top notch and I found the employees to be very friendly

Yes, just be sure to ask for a room not overlooking Carnival Court. We've stayed at Harrah's multiple times and really, you can't beat it for location. Also close to bus stops going either direction if you use the bus system to hop the strip

I've stayed there about a dozen times or so in various rooms.
Never had a real bad room, all usually clean and tidy.
If the views area difference maker the Carnaval Tower has higher floors for a nice look at the valley.
The Mardi Gras tower is older and hasn't been updated in a while, however most of those rooms have a small balcony, which I love.
As to the noise factor, I have never noticed it in any room except for when the balcony door is open.
The best thing going for the property is it's location. You can get down from the room and be on the street in notice flat.

I thought it was the reverse, that the Mardi Gras tower rooms were more recently u pdated (with the exception of the rooms in Carnaval South).

When you check in ask them what upgrade options they have available.

They have a price sheet that they will usually bring up, but sometimes you have to ask for, that lists for an extra charge what you can upgrade to. It is usually for only $5-10 more per night where you can get a mini suite - they are nicer larger rooms, near the elevators, but not right next to them, have a king sized bed and a little sitting area with a sofa. You can spend more for better rooms, but the mini suite is a pretty nice little upgrade if its available.

one more question some of you may be able to answer.....both my brother and i are on offers of three free nights and entry into the vp tournament. we have another friend who is tagging along. we are each just getting a room. do they have a "mini suite" or anything comparable that might have three beds in it that we could just share?

    thanks

Suites and mini suites normally have one bed. And, many suites are one room, no door to another room. And, one bathroom.
Two rooms are usually a better deal. You just have to decide which one of you will be "sharing".

This "quote" is actually in response to your countdown. Fellow Buckeye here also playing in the 150k vp tourney. Staying at Flamingo for it, then moving to Palazzo. We almost stayed at Harrah's, but wife really wanted to stay at Flamingo just to say she's stayed there. But good luck at the tourney. I'd say I'll be the one in the Buckeyes gear, but I don't wear it a lot in Harrah's, its too easily recognizable and the time share lurkers immediately recognize it and pounce all over that hat. Now I wear something more obscure when walking through there that doesn't give them an immediate talking point. It doesn't take long to get sick of "All Buckeyes get free shows" or "O-H, I-'ve got a show for you".....heard that one about 100 times last trip. Ugh. Anyway, best of luck.

We always like Mardi Gras--love balcony and view of volcano when we can get that location.

    Harrahs, I've stayed there.
Older crowd, there are younger peeps too, but more of a middle aged/older crowd.
I've been in both towers, both equally as nice, both quiet.
Here's some additional information. Smaller casino with some older slots.
Clean room, quiet, nothing notable, but I liked it, no complaints. I had the mini suite, which is one room, little larger than premium.
Pool very backyard style and hard to get a lounger. I think I was told a few years back, Diamond can reserve them for free. I don't really know if that's still the case.
I like Toby Keith's and the happy hour at the bar, good portions and decent taste for a fair price. The Carnival Court is interesting and can be fun, I've seen hookers, brides to be and others acting abit foolish, but as they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
If your Diamond and do the dinner buffet and sit in the diamond area, the waiter will split and serve you the crab legs if you ask...dam that's nice and my fav thing about Harrah's! I think I had 2 huge platters with the melted butter...Haven't had the buffet in a few years, but I assume they still offer this to Diamonds/7 Stars. Easy walk across the street to the Mirage and Harrah's has the Steak House upstairs and they have a good happy hour, however not as low priced as Toby Keith's.
I do like Harrahs's but prefer Caesars and Bally's so haven't been giving them much attention in the past years, but I'd still be happy if I ever stayed there again.
