I am looking to see if I can get a lower room rate for my trip in January and I'm a couple hours from AC to get a TR card. If I get a TR card say in AC, Would that put me on the Las Vegas lists or Do I need to opt in after I get the card there?

just having a TR card probably wont change the room rates you are getting but it might. but you dont have to go to ac to get a TR card you can do it online and you will get a TR number which is all you need to book online, then you pick up the actual card when you are in vegas.

If you go to AC and actually play on that card, you may be able to get some good rates or even free in Vegas. Maybe.

It depends on your level of play in AC.
Are you just getting a card, or are you going to gamble 2 or 3 trips with it in AC?
Just signing up for a card won't get you any better deals than you can get here or on any travel site.

The Vegas deals on rooms that you could possibly receive, are not going to be worth your time, including the cost of gas back and forth to AC, and your overall casino investment to achieve this goal. You may get discounted rooms in Vegas; or if you bet say a grand a day, maybe some free rooms to boot!

If you aren't going to do any gambling in AC, and want to save some time and money, go online and sign up for every casino/hotel's email newsletter that you want to possibly stay at. They will send you room deals with cheaper rates through the emails, then you can just sign up for your TR card when you get to Vegas.

I had to purchase some rooms last year and found the best deals (without any casino play) on here in this thread http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13
