That's awesome! It reminds me of the guy from Britain a few years ago that put his life savings on Black at The Plaza. He won over 100k. This makes 2/2 on outrageous roulette bets...I wonder if there's been other attempts that weren't widely reported on that were LOSING bets? Makes you wonder :)

The big difference there was the guy negotiated to have the 0 & 00 blocked on the wheel thereby creating a true 50-50 bet.

If I were betting it all, I'd do it on a hand of baccarat and cut the house advantage by more than 50% compared to a single 0 wheel (more than 75% compared to a 00 wheel).

According to this story he gambled $220000 on RED and they only blocked the 00 not the 0 (to make it the same as european tables).

    It was also at Binions

The bet I was talking about was at the Plaza. The amount was $135,000, both zeros were blocked. I know for sure, I was there at the time. I'll do a little searching later on today and post it. I think the guys name was Ashley. :peace:

Found the video. Remember, it's not so much the amount of his bet, it's everything he owned.

Highly skeptical and I don't believe this was not a staged event.:nono:
Too many cameras, microphones and post production.

    Sometimes.
The event was filmed by Sky One as a reality mini-series titled Double or Nothing.[1] He was also featured in an E! documentary special along with Stu Ungar called THS Investigates: Vegas Winners & Losers.

And I'm sure he was paid for it and the gambling, if there was a loss, was probably insured. Too many years spent working in TV. I believe very little-sorry.

I'm sure he got paid for the tv shows it was on but I was in England at the time and it started with him saving up to do this and then selling his house. he was working on the theory that he was young enough (late 20's) that losing it wouldn't be the end of the world (he was single too I believe) but winning it would put him way ahead in the life savings front.

I didn't realise he set up a poker site afterwards.

also don't forget - no tax on gambling winnings for UK residents...
