Proof that the bonus round in slots isn't random?

While playing the Studio City slot game, I walked away from my computer. When I returned, I saw that I was on bonus round (stage 3?). Before I had a chance to click on any of the cards, I clicked on a few links in my Facebook feed, hoping to get some 101 and 201 chip rewards that hadn't been claimed by others. One of the links was bad (sometimes people accidentally post links to the game, which will cause your other game to throw a "Sorry, something went wrong" message, and tell you to reload the game).

When the game reloaded and I went back in Studio City, I got the message saying my bonus round was interrupted, but that I had won 10 free spins.

What? I hadn't clicked on any cards, so how do they determine that I won 10 free spins?

I haven't tried to recreate this yet, but is this proof that your bonus is predetermined?

I don't think its really proof of anything. If the game crashes during a bonus round it can't restart the bonus round, but the system knows you were on it, so it gives you some set amount. No way to know if its more or less than you would have won anyway.

Not sure why you'd need "proof" anyway. The chips don't matter much and its a free game. Not sure why predetermined payouts would be a big deal.

    Pretty sure it's all predetermined.

when you hit the free spins bonus on NYNY, if you hit the sewer or vault bonus on your very last free spin, it will display your total won for the 8 free spins before you even go into the sewer/vault bonus. Doesn't matter what you pick!

I had won about 10k chips and on the 8th spin, i got the sewer bonus. Suddenly it said I won 70k total chips. I knew, then, that the sewer was guaranteed to not only be correct but also give me 60k. Sure enough, that's what happened.

I'm not sure if this means it's "predetermined", as opposed to just being run quickly by the computer before everything is actually displayed. It's like a real slot machine; even though the reels take a few seconds to spin and land on particular symbols, your payout is determined about an instant after you press the "spin" button, since the RNG and related calculations go much, much faster than the wheels can actually spin. I would guess that that's what's happening here, especially where a large number of bonus spins are taking place without any action required from the player.

I always wondered if the free spin bonus in Studio City is predetermined, i.e., it doesn't matter what three tiles I pick, it was predetermined I would get 9 free spins or whatever predetermined number.

    Try this in Lucky Birds:
    • When you get 4 or 5 picks of eggs, select 3-4 eggs without completing all of your picks.
    • Make note of which birds appeared and in what order.
    • Reload your browser.
    • Go back to Lucky Birds where it will take you back to the bonus again.
    • This time, pick different eggs. The birds you get will be the exact same as what you had previously.

check out the placement of the things om the reels. On time it will have the top reel with a buster bob, the slot below that is an oce cream cone.

Next time its buster bob and belw him is a pretzel.

Just something I have been noticing lately. Also look at the v symbols. why do they go away when you arent building a casino? they add them in when you are eligible. thats odd too.

Most video slots are random on their reel order I think?

And the V's are only used for hotels so they get shut off because there is no point to having them there.

That could be just smart code. Were I programming it, I would have the bonus set such that it locks the result the moment you click the final one. Otherwise you open the program up to abuse where people close the window and reload the bonus because they didnt' like the result they got. It's the most likely scenario.

I was playing Studio City one night and I received an error message during the bonus round (I didn't even pick a card). When I went back in, it said that I had 10 free spins at 1500 per spin. Prior to the error, I was betting 3000 per spin so, my bonus should have reflected the 3000 per spin. It didn't, it reflected 1500 per spin. Needless to say, I was ticked off. I put in a support email to My Vegas complaining. They told me in the response that all bonuses are predetermined. It doesn't matter what you pick. Anyway, they looked at my game play prior to the error message and did refund me the difference in chips to my account.

As other people have pointed out in this thread, bonuses are predetermined. tacallian even pointed out a good reason to do it this way.

As for the Studio City error, it could have been a glitch, but also those bonus spins are also weighted toward your average bet over so many spins. So there is no real advantage to upping your bet near the end of a bonus collection. It's something I could have seen being overlooked in the design of the game, but they actually programmed against that pretty well.

It is the most confusing bonus, but each bird will be activated when certain combinations of foxes exist. Then those foxes will get replaced by wilds or random game symbols and the spin will be evaluated again. When I first played the game, the birds rarely helped me, so I was lost. But when the white bird turns the 2nd column wild, and you have a "Lucky Birds" symbol in the first column, and the peacock multiplier in column 3 that usually gives you a decent win.

Hate to say it, but I'm not sure we have any evidence to suggest that real slot machine bonuses are any different. Illusion of choice for sure, but whether it impacts the outcome, dunno.

Yes, in class III slots (NV, NJ, MO, IL, IA, IN, PA, OH, MS, MD, and a handful of other jurisdictions) it could be done two different ways:

    a) Predetermine bonus result, and fill in the prize values as you choose them.

    b) Do NOT predetermine bonus result, fill in the prize values before you choose them.

Both are technically legal in Class III slots because bonus awards are still randomly determined at some point (either before or during the bonus). From other discussion forums, people that have worked on these slot machines say b) is usually the way class III slots in casinos are set up.

In Class II slots (many (but not all) Indian casinos and some racinos), a) is the only legal method since these slots are technically electronic bingo games and your spin result must be determined from the outcome of that bingo game. Also in Class II video poker, strategy is worthless and paytables do not determine return.

In Luxor tonight, I was playing max bet, 15k per hand. Was getting bonuses left and right, including several for 250k. Went from levels 80-83 in like 25 minutes.

I topped a million chips tonight!
