not such a secret on this forum.

i used the $2 off coupon on oct. 31, and as long as it took the B connected woman to process it (she was on loan from main st. station), i started to wonder if it was worth the trouble to save $2.

in the spring it was a $9 meal, as i recall. ah, inflation.

in the spring i also had a prime rib meal at the gold spike's cafe. not worth going back for.

i know tony roma's advertises an early prime rib dinner special (is it inside fremont) and i thought there was a prime rib deal at el cortez, where i stayed on the latter half of my halloween trip.

any critiques of those dinners? any other prime rib deals i missed downtown?

DuPar's also has a $9.99 prime rib - pretty good. El Cortez's is quite satisfying, Gold Spike's is absolutely horrid. Tony Roma's is mediocre all three times that I've had it, the hours for that price are only 4 to 6 if I remember correctly, and the servers seem to absolutely hate it when you order it. They'll drop it off and never come back around again. I'd stick with California's for the best overall, and El Cortez if you're on that end of Fremont.

The Four Queens' Magnolia Veranda has a prime rib special for $12 or so (I think it's $2 off if you're a slot club member). Had it twice, one time was just okay but the other was fantastic.

I have always enjoyed the prime rib at the 4 Queens, discount with the players card. Also had a good one downstairs at Binions.

The last 2 times I tried to have the prime rib at the 4 queens I ordered RARE and received WELL DONE, when I asked where my rare prime rib was I was told that that was all they had, I left and I haven't been back since.

Well, close to downtown. I just posted this on another thread.

Jerry's Nugget in North Las Vegas has some of the best prime rib I've ever had. It's not too far north of downtown on either Main or LVB, just keep the doors locked and the windows rolled up. :)

It comes in three cuts, large, huge, and ginormous! The smallest is almost too much for me to eat comfortably. The largest is a true cardiologist's nightmare!

The place is very downscale, very blue collar, but the casino is fun and has a real Old Vegas vibe to it.

    Well worth the trip.

I like Jerry's Nugget. Can never win there, but it's a pleasant simple crowd and definitely charming. Sort of reminds me of Laughlin.

Anyone had it at Lawry's? We're staying at Bally's which is close, might try it out.

A year or two ago, that same prime rib dinner at the Cal was only $5.95. For a coffee shop meal, it is a quality piece of meat. And, the old-school salad bar makes it special.

This is the prime rib menu from a place in downtown Milwaukee:
    • The Amazing Alyssa DiGilio 72 oz $99
    • Prime Rib 8oz $25, 16oz $37, 24oz $44
    • The Franzilla 50 oz $75
    • The Baby Dane 40oz $63
    • The Big Bugalski 64oz $88
    • The Mighty Lind 88oz $111
    • The Legendary Halaka 96oz $122
    • The Great Dane 106oz $133
    • The Holy Schmidt 125oz $155
    • The Al-Mighty Halaka Steak Paradise Champion $218
    • Awesomefat The Michael Litman Experience $230

Way overpriced but it is downtown. Our favorite places you pay about a buck an ounce for prime, with all the sides. This place is all ala carte.
One guy on their hall of fame list ate a 10 pounder!!!!!!!!

    Yes. It is very good.

However (comma) when I'm in Las Vegas I want something Vegas and not something I can get in countless other cities.

As far as tasty prime rib goes, I would put the quality of the food at Jerry's Nugget right up there with Lawry's. They don't carve at your table from the silver card or spin the salad, but it's a very enjoyable meal at a fraction of the price.

You will be within easy walking distance of Ellis Island which has a very good prime rib dinner for $12.99. That includes salad, rolls & butter, choice of potato and the best green beans I've ever tasted.

Lawry's is excellent, no doubt, and the ambiance is really nice. But a comparable PR dinner there is more than triple the price of EI. And if you want a vegetable dish to accompany the dinner it's an extra $5-6.
