There may be a possible end to the long hauling problem. Las Vegas is trying to host the Republican Convention in 2016. An excerpt of the article is quoted:

Nevadans involved in putting together Las Vegas’ convention bid said they were confident that any issue with taxicabs and transportation will be solved by the time the 2016 convention arrives.

Gosh, if they are 'confident', then it's practically a done deal! :)

Does this mean a HUGE hooker bust is on it's way? It seems like they are everyfreaking where. Them Repubs don't like hookers!!!

I will put some pretty big odds against the convention being held in Vegas. The Democrats would have way too much fun picking on the GOP.

This particular "Long Hauling" is such a small, petty non-issue.

The problem for us is that Vegas isn't going to get the convention. Someone realized that what happened in Vegas won't stay in Vegas during a political convention and now they are scared to have it there. But it's time Vegas realized that it's the issue is a black mark in the minds of ALL visitors and fix it to take it off the table. Your transportation contact is probably the first impression of a city you fly into and it shouldn't be an experience where you feel ripped off.

Long hauling will never be fixed. Here's the thing, when its busy in town, cabs don't want to long haul. When its slow in town, watch out. Why do you think the limo industry is so big.

My hometown of St. Louis was making a bid for the democratic convention last time around. While this seems like such a small issue on the main stage, they really do look at everything when deciding on a city. I doubt this would be a make or break issue but it's a black eye on what is otherwise a a great choice for any convention of any size.
