I am making my first foray into actually staying downtown instead of just visiting for an afternoon. I plan on taking advantage of the pool at DTG and the only info on the website is their food and drink menu. There isn't any info on cabanas. Even though the casino is often kind of dead I hear the hotel is often high occupancy so does this translate to a busy pool? I'll be hitting the pool with a couple of friends so having a reserved place or some shade would be nice. Also, any chance they offer any poolside gaming?

I have been to the pool once; it was not crowded and the people that were there we all probably over 40 (myself included). I honestly didn't pay attention to the cabanas. I do recall some daybed looking setups but I just snagged a chair w/ an umbrella and was good to go. had a lovely cocktail waitress but no poolside gaming.

The DTG does have cabana areas but they are very spartan, basically separated seating areas with a cover on top to provide a little shade. Nothing at all like a traditional cabana totally enclosed with a fan, TV, fridge, etc.

DTG also does have (or at least used to have) a few blackjack tables on the pool deck, but I don't know when they are open (perhaps only on weekends) and what the conditions are (likely 6/5).

We did the cabana back is September. I think it was a minimum $200 or $250 spending for food and beverage. All the previous comments already hit the mark for the details
Is it anything special: No not really. Its not a strip cabana by any means. Its just 3 couches and a table in a covered area. No privacy.... its all wide open. No safe, no tv.
Is it worth the money: If you are going with a few people and gonna spend that much on food / drinks combined anyways....... then yes I would say it is worth it. The way that pool is laid out Its all open and if you are under the sun all morning there is very little place for cover from the sun so having the covered cabana is nice.
When we were there the pool area really wasn't busy at all so it wasn't like you couldn't find a seat like you might see at Golden Nugget during peak times.
We had breakfast.... the food was decent.. nothing gourmet but it was good food and big portions for the price.
