    Hi all

Just curious about playing in a poker tournament in Vegas... I play texas holdem online and with me going to Vegas every year was curious about how much poker tournaments cost to play in Vegas?

Is it expensive and how do they work?

    Thanks for any help

    Chris

It means that you can buy back in if you get knocked out until registration closes (usually an hour after the starting time) as long as there are seats available.

If you are wanting to play a tourney in the $50, you should really consider playing the one at the Mirage instead. The Flamingo tournament has $35 going to the prize pool with $15 going to the house. The Mirage has $40 going to the prize pool and only $10 going to the house. This means that the Flamingo takes 30% of the money while Mirage only takes 20%. It may not seem like such a big deal but if you play a lot of tournaments it really adds up in a big way.

Mirage also rakes less from their cash games unless I am mistaken.

    Good luck and have fun!

It depends what you mean by expensive. Are the buy-ins always high? (no) Is the rake usually shocking? (yes)
