Anyone know if the new Plaza sportsbook is up and running ... I am looking for an alternative to the Nugget, which seems to have been taken over by semi-homeless people the past two times I have been there.

I had the same experience at GN sportsbook.
    .
I was half asleep watching a game --
this guy in a filthy T-shirt sits down next to me +
tells me "I just got outta jail for a drug problem -
I have no money, could you help me out ?"
He reaches out to shake my hand !:confused2:
    .
    I was so tired -
    I didn't move a muscle...."No"...I said.
    No way I'm shaking hands.
The guy moved on to somebody standing nearby.
    .
I hear the next victim say to the homeless guy -
"Hey, how ya doin' ?....I helped you out yesterday."
    .
And we wonder why there are panhandlers in the GN sportsbook ?

Not sure if it recently closed or whatever, but I made bets at the Plaza sportsbook for the opening rounds March Madness. This was 3/15/12 through 3/19/12.

They were going to completely remodel the race and sports book. This was going to happen once the new company took over the operation.

    Added:
Plans for a remodel of the Race and Sports Book are underway and will consist of new video displays, seating and a redesign of the adjacent bar area. The new William Hill Sports Book will provide Plaza customers access to its cutting edge technology, including mobile sports wagering application and a self-service wagering kiosk.

I was there in Mid October, and I would never place a bet there. It was dirty, the TVs were crap. It said cheap drinks but they were higher than any other place around.

I either sat in the GN, no hobos bothered me, or the Fremont. The Fremont was actually nice. I wish they had bigger TVs, but they give away drinks for any $6 in horse bets or $20 in sports bets. On a Saturday I made six $50 bets and the guy gave me 8-9 tickets and the bar was right there!!

    I will check out Fremont.

Have you tried the 777 at MSS ... I watched a game there. It would be fine, but they played music, not volume for the game. Wondering if they would play audio for the BCS game.
