Saw on avp a 9pm 10 dollar buy in tournament but it's not on their webpage. Anyone know if this is accurate or played in it? I am going to town with a female friend who is new to the game and that low a stake on the strip is unheard of

Sounds unrealistic to me. Hopefully someone will confidently say to me, "You're wrong". If it did exist, I would guess at least $4 goes to the house, it would be hard to make money off that thing.

    Edit: I stand corrected.

    From Bravo Poker Live:

    Micromania!
    $2,000 GTD Prize Pool, $1,000 GTD to 1st, $600 GTD to 2nd, and $400 GTD to 3rd.
$10 buy in, $10 rebuys, and $20 add on
    Start Date: 01/15/2014
    Days: Tue,Wed,Thu
    Starts at: 09:00 PM
    Buyin: $10

Note what I bolded though. This is a rebuy tourney. If you aren't showing up with about $50, you're probably playing it wrong.

the fact that there's a $20 add-on instantly makes this a $30 tournament. Without the add-on, not much chance of getting too far.

They have one of those at our local casino. 2,000 chips to start and you can rebuy immediately. Add-on is 10,000 chips. Seems as though most just buy in for 4,000 right before break and then add-on.

Add ons always seemed like such a joke to me. Usually you have to take the add on because you're getting such good value and would be stupid not to. It's a no brainer.

And I agree tringlomane, Unless you get really lucky early on, this is probably at least a $50 game. I never cared for rebuys since the early levels tend to be shoot outs as people try to accumulate chips. You need to be prepared to buy in a few times or hope to get lucky and double or triple through the early all ins.

Hate them because they start out as a shovefest until the rebuy period ends and only then do people start playing real poker. Many let you rebuy as soon as you go below starting stack too so you can buy a double up soon as you limp into a pot.

Sounds like a fun shove fest.

Nothing wrong with a shove fest if you know thats what your going to be playing and your playing for fun and not +ev.

I think I will try it ina couple weeks when I an there!

LOL off topic sorry but whenever I see a post by avsman I literally cannot help reading it in Robert Deniro's voice in my head.
