    My Trip Report

Posting my first trip report from my trip this past weekend with my wife, K. It will not be a lengthy report, but I will try live reporting on my next trip (Dec 16-20th).

K is not a big fan of Vegas/Gambling, but my buddy called me on Thursday saying he got engaged and that he was heading to Vegas the next day to celebrate. Apparently this is a good enough reason for K to visit Vegas, so I looked at flights and was able to get a decently priced flight on United out of DFW flying out at 6am Sat morning and coming back Monday mid day.

Hotel: My wife logged into my TR account and booked a room. After we landed we went straight to PH where I assumed she booked it, but I assumed wrong (why she didnt tell me this as we were on the way I will never know ha). I went into the Diamond checkin and had a reservation at PH and was in our room within minutes.

Dining:This was a quick trip just to see my buddy and his new fiance, so no major food outings. We went to the following places:
    - Hash House (Linq): I had the chicken & waffles and it was amazing. I would definitely recommend it if you haven't already been there.
    - Lobster Me (Miracle Mile Shops): For a quick meal to bring to the room or when I need a break from gambling, Lobster Me is often times the choice. We shared lobster mac, a lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque, and a lobster roll and it was all pretty good. I think over the last 2 years the quality has gone down imo, but still pretty good for the price/convenience.
    - Burgr (PH): The line at this place is always ridiculous, but we were able to get a seat w/ the diamond card immediately. Im not much of a burger guy, but the alcohol tasted great (from what I remember).
    - Bacchanal Buffet (Caesars): This was the only bad food outing of the trip. After getting seated, we didn't see a waitress for 20+ minutes. We finally get our drinks, and then never saw a waitress again. We were seated near the front, so K grabbed a host/manager (not sure what she was) to politely ask for a waiter. We never saw a waiter still. I am not usually one to complain, but I stopped by and talked to the manager on my way out. She somewhat apologized and offered me front of the line passes and 20% off. I then told her I get that anyways from being Diamond and her attitude changed. They gave me some free buffets and a manager reached out to me later to apologize and invite me back.

On a side note, one of my biggest pet peeves at casinos/restaurants is when staff assumes that age determines financial status (Im 26, K 23). It is laughable when we have a bad experience and they don't try to fix it until they see a piece of plastic with a level on it.

Sports -- Only placed 1 sports bet while in Vegas. The bet was a 3 leg parlay - Royals ML (-105), Yankees ML (-210), & NY Liberty 1H Spread (-3). All 3 won so my $200 bet won $900 and returned $1100. I have not watched a single WNBA game in my life, but I have won 80%+ of my bets on it some how. Who knew betting on the WNBA was where the money is?

Blackjack/Craps: As stated previously, my wife hates gambling. If she is with me (not often) she will hold onto all the cash (and I have the bank update my daily withdrawal limit to 2k/day ;) ), and give me $500 at a time. On this trip I knew I wouldn't be gambling much so I didnt really care, and ended up never even needing to the ATM or getting cash from her. I ended up playing for maybe 4 hours over the course of the weekend, and ended up leaving up about $5K (from the original $500). On Saturday morning after we landed, I went down to the craps table and was glad I did so. On my first time at the table as shooter, I rolled for almost 45 minutes. I wasn't playing overly aggressive due to my low amount of cash, but still left up $3K after sticking around for a few more shooters. I didn't play much blackjack, but had a few 30 minute sessions that were up and down, but still ended up finishing those sessions up around $1K. On Monday morning heading down to catch a ride to the airport, I walked up to a craps table and put $100 on hard 6, $100 on hard 8. First roll: hard 8. After that luck I colored up and headed to the airport.

Shows: Went to KA at MGM on Sunday night. We go to Vegas 3-4 times a year, but I have never been to a show. I thought it was pretty good and will probably try to go see more in the future (if K is with me)

Overall, it was a good trip for only being 48 hours. I will try to live report my December trip to Vegas, and possibly New Orleans before.

Thanks for the TR. We are the same age and my wife feels the same way about the gamble... She hates it. I hate when you get treated as less when you will be paying and tipping... Grinds my gears!

Glad you won some money, too!

    You ever gamble in OK?

Congrats on a winning trip. Many rave about Bacchanal Buffet but my two experiences there weren't good so I see no need to give it another try.

Yup go to Winstar some. Been to the hard rock, but prefer to just head to Shreveport to avoid the ante and so that I can play craps too. I'll be at Winstar this weekend tho!
