My buddies and I are going on a quick trip next weekend, arriving at noon on Saturday and leaving at noon on Monday. When you have a quick trip, what are your "must dos." Here are the givens:

    1. Staying at Aria
    2. We love going Downtown - Golden Gate will be a must for us
    3. Pinball Hall of Fame - great break from the casino

Aside from that, we have no plans. Looking for hidden gems - places to eat, quirky things to do, etc.

When you check in to Aria, see if you can smooth talk your way into a Sky Suite or if that's aiming too high, even a Corner/Panoramic Suite.

Since you're staying next door, hit the hidden pizza joint in Cosmo.

Mob museum may be fun... or The Gun Store to fire some serious military-grade weapons.

if you like seafood / oysters. Hit the Oyster Bar at Palace Station on the way back from your night downtown. They are open 24 hours a day.

I wouldn't do Mob Museum in a 48 hour trip. For a trip that length I'd probably just figure out what to eat and shows to see, and assume drinking/gambling would take up most of the rest.

Any tips on talking them into a Sky Suite? The reservation is comped under my buddy, FYI if that helps or not.

The "20 dollar trick" at check in is probably not enough for a Sky Suite. That will come down to smooth talking a manager - my guess. Not even sure if this is possible :) The 20 dollar trick with some good smooth talk may get you into the corner suite though, depending on if you are going during a busy 48 hrs or not.

I do short trips all the time, I am actually rarely ever in Vegas longer than 3 nights. You'd be surprised at how much you can accomplish.

I almost ALWAYS eat at Border Grill at Mandalay Bay no matter who I go with, everyone likes it.

Lately, I've had breakfast at Sugar Factory, it's reasonable, easy to get to, and there's never a line like at the cafe's and the food is a little better.

If you wanna try something different I really enjoyed the Neon Museum, I also enjoyed visiting Red Rocks and the Red Rock Casino.. that is if you wanna get away from the strip for a while. It's about a 20 minute drive.

So honestly, I don't really do much differently on short trips! Except usually no shows (unless I'm in town for a specific show). My advice is find some places that have a lot going on. I did a 1 nighter last year at PH and we ate there, we gambled there, we saw a show there, we shopped there. It ended up being really nice and easy, between PH and Paris we never really left or had to get in the car.

Thanks. Every time I go to Vegas I aways think it's going to be too short and then by the middle of the second day I'm wishing the flight was the next day. So I think this trip will be perfect (as long as flights are not delayed!).
