Well, it's not really in Phoenix. Ak-Chin is in Maricopa which is 20+ miles south of the center of the city. It's a nice enough casino but definitely not just a cab ride away.

van buren area is not an area I would want to be around at night.

Ak Chin has nice hotel rooms, nice pool, nice Diamond Lounge, Range, buffet is even good. It is 17 miles from turn off on I 10 and it is located by itself.
You would be turning off 10 just after passing Wild Horse Pass which is more vegas style casino. Never stayed there. Also Lone Butte is off 202 is close to Wild Horse, same tribe. Their 3rd casino Vee Quiva is a dirty place but some like it.

Scottsdale has two casinos that are good too. Off the 101.

Traffic is heavy esp. around rush hours. Dust storms have been coming late afternoons. When it pass you are driving in darkness, very scary. The weather now and this coming week is looking like more rain and humidity. There was a huge dust storm last Thurs. Happy I was home and watched the wall of dust moving across the city.

hey wasnt my choice of the hotel.... had to go with what my client wanted to do :) Plus I am not worried about being around in a shitty area :) luckily working for CBP well I am strapped ;)

One of the reasons i want to hit AkChin is because I need more points for great rewards and being on the east coast its a perfect opportunity :)
Traffic doesnt bother me... i am use to DC traffic....

    Thanks for all the pointers
