    Hi all,

How does Pechanga Resort & Casino compare to Vegas, (I know this is a silly question), but can you also have fun there?

I heard that due to the california law the craps and roulette have to be played with cards (this sounds terrible to me).

How did you fare at this casino, is there any other one you could recommend, I am in northern San Diego.

Or should I just save up my bankroll for the true Vegas experience, kind of sucks to drive there, seems only worth it by flying?

    Thanks!

I would think that Pechanga would be similar to Barona or Harrah's Southern California. I love the Vegas atmosphere and being able to walk to different casinos so my suggestion is obvious.

Pechanga is nice, but I have to agree with Aces. It's okay in a pinch, but doesn't make up for the Vegas itch. Especially when you lose! I like Pala better myself, but being 50 miles away I don't go too much. Barona, Sycuan, and Viejas are nice as well, but I won't go there anymore for personal reasons... Your mileage may vary!

Save your BR for Vegas. No comparison. Nothing like Lost Wages anywhere in the world. If you happen to be in San Diego or around there then sure I would go. Last week I was in SD and went. I went to Pechanga and Pala.. Really liked Pala better. Not smoky at all, really nice high limit room, good BJ games (2 deck pitch, 1 deck pitch, sos, 3:2, 4x split), live band on top of the bar area, 1,000,000 slots and you throw the dice to see which card is turned. Also occasionally some great music entertainment. Pluses for Pechanga.. Great golf course... I happen to get lucky and win both nights. It is over an 2 hour drive for me and I never go except for golf or when I visit my buddy in SD maybe three times a year.

I really enjoy Pechanga, and it's probably the only casino here in SoCal that I consistently go to. There's no such thing as 6:5 BJ at Pechanga, and if you're into slots, they have like 3,000 of them. In addition, I have to say that I always see at least 10-30 jackpots at Pechanga every time I go.

I also like Pechanga since it isn't hidden in this hills like most other places in SD county. If you don't have the time or bankroll to go to Vegas, but still need to take care of your gambling itch, why not check it out?

I think I definitely will have to check it out since its only like a 45min drive from me. But I guess as Packer says, I will save the majority of my bankroll for a trip to Vegas.

Pechanga is my go to for local casinos, but yeah...nothing like Vegas. I will say that I do feel slots are much looser at Pechanga, and the other locals, compared to Vegas. Atmosphere, food, and entertainment...nothing compares to Vegas.

The cards for crisps and roulette ruin it for me. Like what's the point!? Yeah I know it's the technicality in the law but who are you Fooling? Either legalize all of it or ban it. Don't half ass it.

The card craps definitely seems silly, but I don't mind the card roulette. I don't play the card roulette often, but I do watch it a lot...seems whenever I watch it, there are always a number or group of numbers that hit frequently. If I am in a rush and need to play my match play quickly, I usually hit the card roulette tables or EZ Bacc tables.

The reason for the law is as simple as powerful lobbyists from Nevada "convincing" California politicians that "full scale" gambling would lead to bad things in California. About 10 years ago Gov. Swarz offered them a deal to have full scale gambling if they raised the tax % they were paying to the state, and the casinos said no.

Also Pechanga and Pala are the two best casinos in the SD region. Barona almost certainly has the highest paying VP and highest paying slots. Harrahs has the worst paying slots and BJ. Pechanga and Pala are way bigger than any of the other casinos. Viejas is very smoky and has low class clientele.
