my guess is he will try to charge a premium due to the spill off from the shop, i bet i doesnt work, as it the shop is basicaly a nick nack store now, u dont see the cast any more, i did a large deal over 2 years ago with the oldman there selling some stuff, i was approached to do the tv show a while back didnt do it , yes its all scripted .

the nieghboorhood is really bad around there and nothing to do or see except the pawn store and once u go theres no reason to go back.

This pawn star nonsense will stop as soon as they dont renew the show.

I used to watch the show all the time but slowly lost interest. Its played out or at least it soon will be.

Can you imagine going to see the pawn shop 5 years after the show has been cancelled?

What was your favorite tv show that was cancelled 5 years ago?

Thanks for the post. Rick is an amusing and interesting guy. I think I would like him. Unfortunately, neither his shop nor the two programs it inspired does much for me these days. If the plaza comes together, I trust that somebody here will review it for the rest of us and that it will succeed or fail on its own merits, not based on what we think of the shop or the shows.

Its foreseeable: the first couple of years they did continue to work the store, but then it got to the point where people were lining up to meet them, get pictures and autographs and all that. After that you could go to the store and still see them, but they would be lurking around in the back areas so it was rarely more than a passing glimpse unless one of them (usually Chumlee) came out and did an autograph and photo session with fans.

Then when they did the big North American tour to promote Rick's book that was pretty much the end of it for them actually being at the store, where they were gone for 6-8 months and yet people still lined up at the store and still bought up merchandise and novelties so I think that just clued them in that they didn't need to be at the store all the time and then that was about it: after that they would show up at the store from time to time, but it was pretty rare and often just for filming a few episodes.

For this plaza idea: it makes sense for them to try and capitalize off the show beyond the few people they can let in the store at any one time and while the show is still strong in the ratings it is surprising they waited this long to try and branch out in to something more beyond the pawn shop.

We drove by the shop several times during our June trip and the parking lot never had many cars in it. We also drove down the street behind the shop to check that out. I think he waited too long.

what they did was work in the back they have offices so they dont have to go on the floor, if theres a big deal that the pawn regulars cant handel they bring it to them in the back and thats how its handeled, but there basicaly never there and if u bring anything interesting to the shop to pawn they will ask u if u want to be on show if there taping that month, there taping again in sept

but u dont see them anymore its been like that for years u have a better chance running into them at a casino than at the store. ps they dont take much in pawn except jewlery or gold and silver, no collectibles except for the show its all staged

I did the Annie Bananie tour in May and it was interesting to go to the Pawn shop as I do watch the show, although to be honest it's just a shop and looks smaller than it does on tv. As for the Plaza I can see he wants to put money back into the area but I just wonder who's going to visit apart from the people who are going to the Pawn shop, it's not in an area of town where you would be comfy and safe walking to get to and from it, I hope it works out but I think it could be a struggle in that area of town.
