During my last Vegas visit, I signed up with Total Rewards (it had been many years since my last trip) and earned my first room comp offers.:nworthy: I can stay for free at any CET property in Vegas except Caesars. I know PH and Paris are the most upscale of my choices, so I have a couple questions.

My offers are for a PH Hip room or Paris Red Room. Would I have a good chance of receiving a complementary upgrade to a fountain view room at either property on a November weekday? Would a complementary fountain view upgrade be more likely at Bally's?

Do PH, Paris, or any CET property offer guests free access to an exercise room with elliptical or treadmill machines?

During my last visit, I made the mistake of parking in the PH lot and was
irritated by the required long trek through their retail shops to reach the
casino. Is the parking situation at Paris much better? Is valet service convenient for lowly gold tier members?

I'd also like to know if self-parking is particularly convenient or terrible at any of the other CET properties. I might choose to stay at Rio (if I want to go on a Saturday) in which case I would likely drive to a CET strip casino to recreate. I want to check out Caesar's poker room; is it a very long journey from their self-parking?

    Thanks!

I can't answer a lot of your questions, however, i can answer a couple.
I am going in two weeks and have always stayed in CET properties. I have stayed at Bally's, Paris, and PH. The parking is ideal if you stay at Paris or Bally's. When you walk down the escalator you either go to the left (Paris) or right (Bally's). Very convenient. Parking at PH is a long walk.
If you stay stay at PH, i would propose Valet. As far as the Hip Room or Red Room, i've stayed in the Hip Room one time, at Paris i had a room just below. It all depends on what interests you most..do you like modernism (PH), or impressionism (Paris) LOL. In my case it depended on what my CET offers were. But as far as PH, try the Premier Fountain View, not the Hip room.
If i had a choice i would stay at Paris and if need be use the ole' $20 trick to get a Fountain view. Parking may be inconvenient at Harrah's, the Quad, and even to some extent the Flamingo because of the construction.
Never stayed at the Rio, but you can get the shuttle at Bally's to Rio and leave your car at Paris, which is what i liked to do if i just wanted to visit Rio's casino.
One last thing, about 3 years i stayed at Bally's (complimentary) and didn't really care what the view was, as it turned out, my view was unbelievable. Fountain views galore, and i had a standard room, but my room was high up and dead on.....but that was then, i'm sure things have changed.

I would take the Red Room (which is technically an upgrade from the "granny" room...and definitely more modern) over the PH room...any PH room. I like their casino well enough, but the rest of PH, including the rooms, are not that awesome IMHO. Paris is lighter and brighter and has more options for everything...plus, you're connected to Bally's for more gaming options.

I am never one to do the $20 thing (I don't call it a trick, because the only trick that's occuring is in your head in my opinion) because a room is a room and I don't plan to look out my window worth 20 bucks of time...

I don't know about the parking because I've only gotten a car a couple of times in Vegas and didn't really drive that much.

Red Room- for sure.....mid-week in Nov?? Odds of an upgrade to a fountain view red room should be pretty high. The free spa / gym is usally based on your card level not normally on the room offer...I think. Maybe someone on here can let you know for sure. Have a great time.

Valet parking at Paris is great - quick and efficient. I have self-parked but normally valet 99.9% of the time. But walking from self-park is not any big deal - especially if you are just headed to your room.

Is a fountain view that important to you? How much time do you spend in front of the window? I have had a fountain view many tmies but find I have only spent a few minutes each trip looking out of it. If you can live without it, take the Red Room (very nice) and try it with the $20 tip.

I have been both Platinum & Diamond - haven't really ever found free access to gym. I checked when my son was with when I was Diamond & was quoted a cost so he just ran each morning down the strip, over to UNLV & back. At Flamingo they have (or did have) a multi-day pass at one time. Ran a bit cheaper than a single day. My co-worker found the Flamingo facilities to be nicer than the ones at her resort in Mexico for the same daily cost. Not sure how Paris's compares.

Nothing is really free with CET because you don't pay the resort fee.. I guess it evens out.

Paris is a million times better parking wise. Self parking is fairly close to everything. It's a smaller resort. I personally have not had a good experience at PH in a while. I would chose Paris over it any day.

The parking situations at PH sucks having to walk through the Miracle Mile. Parking for Paris is a little better but still sucks. Rio parking is a tad bit better than Paris. What I'm trying to say is, just valet.

Is there something you fear about valeting?

If you stay at the Rio, they have free shuttles to the strip going every 30 minutes or so. Same thing for the way back. You'll probably be drinking so shuttle's the way to go.

Caesars has a good room especially if you go on a weekend.

Thanks for the helpful responses. Regarding rooms, I'll probably go with the consensus and choose a Paris Red Room. Regarding valet, I do dislike giving up control of my car but I may do it anyway. I will also check out the free shuttle if I stay at the Rio or go to see Penn & Teller.

Give yourself enough time if you have to wait for another shuttle. Priority boarding is given to Diamond/7Star members (and has been extended to Platinum when it is slow -not always though). I have had to wait for another shuttle or have 'just missed' one etc. So always go with enough time to take the next one - or just go catch a taxi on that part of the journey. If you are going FROM Rio to strip, you have option for shuttle to Harrahs or to Paris - and it's not that far of a walk from Harrahs back down to Paris. So you have twice as many chances returning.

I stayed at PH a couple weeks ago and had booked a comped hip room. Checked in on a Monday and got upgraded to a panoramic suite for free.

That's amazing! Did you tell the clerk it was your anniversary or something? What did you say or ask for? I'd be very happy to score a "resort vista" room.

Maybe I'll take my chances with PH. I do otherwise prefer their casino to Paris since they have more inexpensive dining options, a poker room, and half naked dancing girls.:ssst:

    Paris

Always heard great things about Paris. I've been to the casino and it is beautiful and I love the shops. I'm thinking of staying there on one of my next trips.

I had a $20 bill wrapped around my CC/ID and said hey beautiful, this $20 bucks is all yours if you can get me a nice fountain view room. She was on the computer for a bit and said sorry, can't get you that, then she pulled out a book and pointed to the panoramic suite and asked if that would work. I said yes.

If you stay at Rio, the walk to Caesars is possible, and then take cab back if too late at night, or cold. We have done the walk before, coming into the side entrance at Caesars.

I like PH better. It's hipper, sexier, and I love a short walk from your room to the strip.

Does Rio really have a shuttle TO and FROM Paris?? With a bad leg is it far to walk from Paris to Harrahs?
    Thanks

I believe it's actually picks and drops off at Ballys. I think that with bad legs it might be a bit hard to walk from Paris to Harrahs, you can always take the monorail from Ballys to Harrah's. :)

With bad legs I would rent a scooter. About $135 for a 5 day rental. Available at the concierge. If you need a 'break-down' one to put in a rental, then you will need to contact concierge in advance so they can order it from the rental company. Even the walk from the monorail station back to the hotels is awful.

And it does pick up at Ballys - north side on Flamingo Road. Best way to describe is to go straight when you come in from Paris, out those doors & down the sidewalk to the right. There is a waiting area there.

You will definitely not have free access to any fitness center, there will be one available but expect to pay $20+ a day to use it and the hot tub and steam room, etc. I am staying at PHo in January, big fan of the young, hip atmosphere since I am 25. Originally had my room booked at Paris but made the switch recently since they were both comped. Paris Red Rooms are definitely nice, very similar to the PHo Hollywood Hip room. To me comes down to the more subdued but touristy like atmosphere at Paris or the more upbeat and young atmosphere at PHo.

Great help everyone, thank you. I really prefer to gamble at Rio, but we are staying at Paris, no choice. So I will just go outside Bally's and catch the shuttle to and from Rio.
