    My Trip Report

Since I enjoy reading all the trip reports I will attempt one on our most recent trip to Paris. We had been eagerly waiting for vacation time, since we usually go in August but the prices on airline tickets were better if we waited this time. Little did I realize that this week would be the BIG fight AND Mexico's birthday!!
We flew out of Louisville on a nonstop SW that was delayed by mechanical difficulties for an hour so that was a bummer. Luggage was picked up quickly in LV and we headed for the taxi line (I always hate this part). I told the driver NO HIGHWAY! He did okay and when we got to Paris it was 14.95. He was gonna get 20.00 no matter what, then he said something about an extra tax?? Gave him the 20.00 and walked away.
We went into the Diamond check-in and there were lots of people in there but we got checked in quickly and our room was ready. Our host had booked a LeMans Suite for us but the lady at the desk said she had a better room(what?). My husband was skeptical but she just smiled and said you will like it, so I said okay. When we got there it was the Givernay Suite 19th floor.
It was one of the remodeled rooms and VERY nice. Home sweet home!
Now when we get to Vegas we just check out the room, set up the safe, unpack the basics and run to the casino so we can get that first drink in after that long trip! Now I love to bet the football games when I'm out there and this was Monday night. My husband was asking if I was gonna bet a game but I did not really care for either of the teams playing-but I'm in a gambling mecca right? So I have to go bet my first losing team! I don't want to hear anything else about how good this quarterback is!! Football was not good to me this trip.
On the bright side we both started out really good on the slot machines Monday night. They were giving out big bonuses and the drink service was excellent. As a matter of fact the entire trip we had the best cocktail waitresses ever.
I won't bore y'all with details because we are pretty boring(HA), we just like to drink and gamble and get away from everything at home. We play slots, bet the horses and ballgames. We were surprised that it rained off and on for the first 3 days we were there. It was cooler that it was in KY. That's good because I needed to stay inside with all those slot machines!
I stay on EST mostly while I'm there just because I like being downstairs when it's not real crowded. It's fun to see the club crowd and the table players that have been at it all night. I just can't do that, never could. The machines were pretty good to me all week. No big wins but no big losses either. I did really well with the Sex and the City machines at Paris. They hit the bonuses a lot. I called them my ATM machines! Hangover was fun there too. The only problem was they had taken out 2 of the SATC machines and put Family Guy there. They didn't get much play so I don't know if they didn't pay well or were just annoying. I know they totally got on my nerves when they were being played, of course I don't watch that show.
We had 300.00 free play. We turned it into 202.00. We got out to walk the strip on Thursday. Decided to go South this time. Bad decision. Construction around the NYNY was ugly. They were tearing down a building and it was a maze to walk thru. We managed to make it to MGM and that's when we realized just how many people were arriving for the fight. We didn't stay there long. It was slow going getting back up to Paris. Then we heard that all the rooms on the strip were booked for the Mexican anniversary and the fight. It seems to me that when the weekend gets close the machines get tighter, so we spent more time in the sportsbook. We love to play the horses and all our favorite tracks only run later in the week so it worked out.
Over all this was one of my favorite trips even if we didn't get out a lot. The staff at Paris couldn't have been nicer, service was great everywhere. They were good to give drink tickets at the sportsbook too. Even the security guy came up and asked if I was having a good time and told me to let him know if I needed anything. That was a first!
We had the free Buffets on my credit card. That was easy and covered 2 days of food for us. We just don't seem to want to eat when we are in Vegas. Our first meal was at Burger Brassiere, they have the best burgers IMO the other food there is good too. The service can be spotty sometimes. One of our buffets was at PH and I will say they have improved since last year. As usual the breakfast at Paris tops them all.
We came home on Sat. and as usual the airport is like a ghost town checking in. You don't run into any crowds until waiting for the plane, which was LATE again. Can't wait for the next trip.

Yeah, that's tacked on at the end. I didn't realize that once and gave a cabbie a crappy tip as a result...oops. $20 is still ok on a $16.75 fare, obv. Thanks for sharing!

When the SATC machines first came out in Vegas, I had a ridiculous hot run on them during our stay at PHo......then a mini run at Flamingo the next trip, then nothing. I actually make a point of playing them at Paris now too because I always win on them there and laughed when I read your comment because I call them my personal ATMs too. Thanks for sharing your TR!

For $14.95 plus the airport tax, your cab driver did a good job for you. I take cabs to Paris and to Flamingo frequently and that's the price for taking the best way with limited traffic.
