Has anyone stayed at the Palms recently in either the Fantasy Tower or Ivory Tower? We stayed in the FT a couple years ago and really liked it. I understand the IT has remodeled rooms. Does any one have any pics of the newly renovated rooms? Which do you prefer and why? We have booked for the end of April and have a choice of Towers for the same price. Any help would be appreciated.

I've stayed in both but since the remodel stay in the Ivory Tower exclusively. The room remodel in the IT is modern, functional and very nice. I don't have photos on my iPad but the rooms are as shown on their website. I really like the 1-bedroom Ivory Tower suite.

We stayed 4 times at Palms last year and always in the Ivory tower. We prefer it because of the close pool access. I can't remember the name of the room but we have always called it the "creepy eyes room" LOL.

The rooms are very nice as far as a comp room goes, beds were comfy and wifi worked as good as any in Vegas. They shut the pool down early so no problem with noise either. Have a look at the pics of the room on Palms website the rooms are exactly how they look. BTW in case you didn't know, only the Ivory tower has smoking rooms, if you are a room smoker that's where you will end up.

    Hope that helps...

If you want a shower that doesn't have a door (by design) stay in the Ivory Tower. It's weird and makes for a wet bathroom floor. IMO, the Fantasy Tower rooms are much nicer and have far better views than the Ivory Tower rooms. In the end, however, you may not have a choice. Each of the last few times I have stayed at the Palms, I was "upgraded" to the Ivory Tower at check-in despite specifically booking the Fantasy Tower. Each time - midweek - I was told that the Fantasy Tower was overbooked. The one time I made an issue of it, they put me in a handicapped room in the FT on the same floor as the Kingpin Suite. My suspicion is that they basically have closed down most of the floors in the FT, except for the floors with the Fantasy Suites/Sky Villas, to save on housekeeping expenses, and are moving everyone to the Ivory Tower. They did something similar at the Bellagio during the depths of the recession and after 9/11 when tourism tanked: they closed down an entire wing for months.

I really like the Palms, but if you're looking for action...look elsewhere. You will notice that the casino is completely dead regardless of when you are there. They have among the lowest blackjack maximums in the entire city ($1,000 is the highest in the entire casino), closed the high limit room (they leave the TV's on in it but have not had a table opened there in nearly a year), and they closed all of their nightclubs. Only the Ghost Bar remains open. The place is a shadow of what it once was, and they seem to be doing alot of it on purpose.

The upside of all this is that if you actually want into the Ivory Tower, you can book the FT and you will almost definitely wind up in the Ivory Tower for $20 less per night.

Hey Breanna, Billy, Fish, thanks for responding. I appreciate the insight. We will probably stay in the IT. We love playing at the Palms. VP is my game and my wife fluctuates between VP and slots. We are beyond the target age for the Ghost Bar and may feel a little uncomfortable at the pool but hey, who cares! We also like some of the food court selections; Chronic Tacos and Earl of Sandwich. Thanks again!

I love the Palms too and will be there in about 5 weeks! Got a comped room in the Fantasy Tower this time but may see if we can get moved to the Ivory Tower. Last trip a couple years ago $20 trick got me a corner room in IT with a sweet view of the strip on one side and Gold Coast on the other... Didn't have Chronic Tacos at that time so I'm looking forward to some late night snacks!

    Have a great trip!

In my opinion the new Ivory tower isn't that great. The beds are harder than fantasy and their shower stinks. The room we had there was no shower door so what ever part is not facing the water becomes ICE code!! I like the fantasy tower better.

Stayed at the Palms in November and was really impressed. We were upgraded free to an Ivory Tower room and it was one of the best rooms I've had in Vegas. Clean, well appointed and fairly large. Like one of the other posters mentioned, the casino seemed dead at all times of the day. It was kind of weird, but if you're looking to get away from the bustling Strip it's one of your best options.

Do you remember what side of the tower you stayed on? North or South side? How high up were you? Thanks for the info.
