I was lucky and booked THEHotel for half the Palazzo price. If I had the choice I would go palazzo.

Location is a big factor. V/P is near but not all the way to the North end of the strip. MB is totally at south end of strip.

The term suite is used very loosely these days. The V/P room is very nice, but most of the rooms are oversized rooms with a wall/door to the living area. But, they still call them suites. I think any suites at MB do have the door, if that is important.

Next is where are planning to eat, play, etc?

Lots to do at both places within their building and close by.

Depends on what you wanna do, where you wanna gamble.

    THEhotel:
-Very nice rooms. The living room is completely separate and has two bathrooms. THEhotel has been very quite every time I have been there as it is off to the side of MB.

-Lower limit gambling available within indoor walking distance at Luxor and Excalibur.

-Tram straight to Excalibur, then walk to NYNY, then to MGM Grand and hop on the tram and you can go anywhere on the strip.

    Palazzo:
-I haven't personally been in the rooms but I hear great reviews. V/P will have higher limit gambling but you are also walking distance to Harrah's for some lower limits. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, great dining options but will likely be considerably higher at most places than the MB/Luxor/Excal region.

-Easy walk to: Wynn, Fashion Show Mall, Harrah's, Mirage, TI, CP

For me, I would pick Palazzo because I love to gamble at the Wynn. Either would be a great choice though. I would just take a look at what you think you will be doing most as far as location on the strip goes and pick one. I can tell you that the better deal money wise is Palazzo because it is normally considerably more expensive than THEhotel.

I'm leaning towards palazzo but the wife loves the sound of the pools at Mandalay Bay.

The pool situation can vary depending on when you go. In the summer, it can be crazy out there.

Meanwhile... my earlier comments were towards MB only - I missed the "theHotel" part. As said, real suites there. Lots to do within the MB complex, and indoor walk to Luxor and Escal with lots of shopping along the way. Short outside to NYNY and across the MGM.

Some people say theHotel is separate from MB Casino. Only sort of. A short walk past the restaurant and showroom and you are in the casino. And at the escalators that take you to other hotels.

I've stayed at both... when I stayed at V/P I found myself leaving a lot more, as I was not a huge fan of the food or gaming in there. Also my wife has some kind of headache reaction to the scent in the air at Venetian (which we did not find in Palazzo)... but since they're connected, FYI in case you or your group are sensitive to that kinda thing at all.

When I stayed at TheHotel I found the resort itself to be a bit older, but TheHotel itself was nicer as a hotel / room. I like the gaming at MB and connector Luxor (never made it to the castle) casinos. I was also not as thrilled with the dining at MB either - I don't think either have great dining inside IMO - but within walking distance for sure.

If I was picking between the two myself I'd pick TheHotel for the nicer room and easy access to better gaming. In either case I'd understand I need to rent a car or taxi many places I'd want to go.

I'd say Palazzo is nicer. THEhotel is fine, but it's in a little bit of disrepair and the Mandalay Bay is about to undergo a bunch of renovations... I'd rather be at Palazzo.

Honestly can't lose with either though.

I stayed one night at MB last december and was disappointed. Room was not so nice. Palazzo suite ist much bigger and my opinion much nicer.

Only few people in the casino area. Got no Cocktailservice.

The buffet was good. A lot of construction sites in the restaurant/musical area.

Far away to the middle of the strip.

Without a doubt - if you compare a regular MB Room to a V/P room, V/P wins hands down. Those ovesized rooms with step down to living area, and larger bathrooms are much better.

But, real suite at theHotel or a real suite at MB win over the large rooms at V/P.
