Never played but looking to play a session or two next trip to give it a try.

Do they have any side bets for the 5 card poker hand?

The reason for asking it because based on the wizard's strategy for playing, if you have a full house it is recommended to play the pair as the small hand and the 3 of a kind as the large hand.

If there is a side bet, I image that a full house would play nicely and it wouldn't make sense to break up the full house.

If there is no side bet then it makes sense.

For the side bet, aka the bonus bet, it starts paying for a straight which is 2to1, trips at 3to1, flush 4to1, and a full house is 5to1. If you have a full house, the correct way which is also called the house way, you split the pair and trips like you mentioned. In PGP, if you bet the bonus and hit it, you get paid regardless however you arrange your hand.

The house way is to split the full house...you would still get paid the bonus for a full house if you did so (assuming you made a bonus bet)...keep in mind though, you are not obligated to split the hand...similarly, if you had two pair....you are not obligated to split the pairs...your strategy would depend on the value/rank of your cards and the size of your bet at risk as to whether you keep two pairs or a bonus hand together (playing for a push) or split the bonus hand and gamble...

    Thanks for the replies.
Nice to know you could still get paid the bonus.
I assume there is probably some other catch like you must win both hands to get the bonus or something?

Negative. If you bet the bonus, and hit it, does not matter if you win the hand or lose, you still get paid whatever the bonus is, Another thing to consider for the bonus bet, the minimum bet is $1. But to get the "envy" bonus, it's $5 minimum. The envy bonus is for when someone else hits a bonus/special (minimum of quads). If another player hits quads, if you had $5 at least on the bonus, you get $5. If someone hits a royal flush, you get $50 if you had at least $5 on the bonus bet. Now if you didn't you don't get anything, hence they call it envy.
