    My Trip Report

Moderators, don't know if this brief report is appropriate for this site so please delete if not.
No casino, no gambling and no overnighter. I just wanted to show some of you who have never been to California or universal how much fun it is. For you mid west and eastern folks here are some pics to keep you warm. 86 here today. Not rubbing it in just trying to keep you warm. Here are a bunch of pics for you. You well see us soaking wet from the Jurassic park ride which we went on 8 times (our favourite), desperate housewives street and homes (wisteria lane), lots of New york streets, western sets, European homes and streets, amity island where jaws was fillmed, the big flood, assorted pics and you can see our beautiful weather!
Took my little boy to Universal studios Hollywood yesterday a w have a yearly pass and it is only 20 minutes from our home with no traffic.

Thanks for sharing the pics Packer. It's been many years since I've been there but it was great to take a trip down memory lane. Seeing your son crashed at the end of a great day is the best pic of all!

I haven't been there since 1989. I know the year because we went for my birthday in October and came back to the office with my pictures. They had the new King Kong and Earthquake parts of the ride and friends at work wanted to see our pictures. I turned the page to the Earthquake part of the ride and WHAMMO!!! The Loma Prietta quake that shook apart the Bay Bridge among other things hit at that moment. Timing was too perfect.

I love how a busy day makes for a tired kid. :) Looks like you had fun. Thanks for sharing some sunshine, even though we seem to strangely have our own in Seattle right now. It's so warm that I've had to be out mowing and weeding! In FEBRUARY!?!? :wink2:

I've been to the one in Orlando and everyone has told me the one in CA pales in comparison.. but based on these pictures I think it's just different - a lot bigger and longer backlot tram ride, for one. I may have to put that on my list next time I swing down to southern CA.

Thanks for posting and sharing the trip!

I wanted to add, universal was really clean and all the employees were really nice and helpful. In my business I tell employees to use the 7 foot rule, whenever there is a customer within 7 feet greet them somehow. Say hello or anything. Seems like that's how all the employees have been trained. A lot of employees in there early to mid 20s and and were totally professional, polite and seemed to genuinely like their jobs. Older employees too. One grumpy employee and he was a management type. The place was packed! Holiday weekend. Some lines were more than one hour and thirty minutes long (Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride & Jurassic park ride) but everyone was having fun and at least moving a little so it wasn't bad. My little boy and myself never waited more than 5 minutes for any ride because I get front of line passes and know how to work it. (By the way, Tipping isnt a city in japan) If you ever go to Disneyland, Universal or any of theses places you really need to go with me! I actually should write a book on "never wait in a line".
Also, going to Universal is not a 12 hour day. We go through every ride, lunch, waterworld and other stuff in a 1/2 day. It is usually just the two of us though. A tip is to get there 30 minutes before they open and we are usually out of there around 300pm or earlier. So 9 to 3ish..
Make sure you get some of these passes below. Thanks for reading.

Awesome pics, Packer! Looks like you and the kid had an awesome time! We haven't been to Universal in over a year...we keep renewing the season pass to Disneyland, so we end up going there all the time.
