Wow, our news people in Hawaii are warning everyone to watch out for the north shore. Because of ocean storms the waves on the north shore are predicted to be 40 - 50 feet high today! Too bad, because of the wind and choppiness they won't be holding the eddie aikau contest (only held when there are huge waves).

Unfortunately this causes a lot of beach erosion and a number of beachfront homes are being threatened of washing out to sea.

will post pics when I find them. too bad I have to work so can't see them for myself but I've seen high waves and they are awesome (and scary).

I was trying to find good pictures of the large waves but it was choppy so really didn't do justice to the waves.

I found one on this site (scroll through the pics to find the waves):

    http://www.staradvertiser.com/

which showed a chopper being dwarfed by the waves.

some of the tv news sites also had some pics but none looked like the 50 footers that I was hoping to see.

traffic was horrendous, they estimated thousands of people tried to drive to the north shore to see the waves, talk about total gridlock.

It's on the way here. They've sent out word that Mavericks is on tomorrow.
