I just got back and I think the whole Linq area is great. Pleasant to walk through and no card flickers when I went through. The stinky smell of cheap food and beer and sweaty bodies is gone from O'Sheas. I think you can still get that at Casino Royale. The Quad doesn't resemble Imperial Palace at all. It's a nice improvement. Vegas is constantly changing. When I want old school Vegas I go downtown.

The big companies want to get rid of all reasonably priced food and drink on the strip. Once they control a competitor expect it to change and not for the better. This is the reason I started renting a car. I needed more dining and gambling options.

It feels like there is no place for a blue collar budget on the strip sometimes. Dont get me wrong, Im not a cheapskate. But sometimes I dont want to spend 50 bucks just for my wife and I to eat a non-fast-food lunch on the strip.

And this is exactly what I started posting about a couple months ago, and got blasted by many members here.

The NEW VEGAS is pricing us out! We do not want to be priced out, but if that is their decision and direction, there is nothing we can do about it except not go anymore.

And no, we are not open to the idea of the long flight from the southeast, just to stay at an off strip location. :nono:

If we want off strip, we can do that cheaply in Biloxi or Tunica + very short flight!

We don't want to leave, but are they giving us a choice with each new and improved year? :confused2:

    Yep!

All the fun things I enjoyed about the strip are slowly getting phased out, I'm still pissed about the $1 margaritas at CR being replaced by an over priced Fat Tuesdays.

Seems like they are turning it into more of a high end shopping destination...Sirens...shopping mall, Front of Ballys...shopping mall, at this rate I'll be staying a exclusively at Fremont in a couple years

Was O'Sheas the place with the pictures of laughing girls over the urinals? That was so funny, especially after a few drinks. It was better than the Berlin Wall.

This! Flamingo added a food court, Casino Royale expanded theirs but people are still fixated on one at O'Sheas. Yes, I agree the strip is getting more expensive but to me it's not the end of the world that the grimy BK is not coming back. Most of the options coming into the Linq aren't cheap but they don't seem like they will break the bank either.

Sounds like things are a-changin' and most of the old dive joints are going away. Sad to hear, but somewhat expected. Can't remember how many times I did the Casino Royale to Oshea's trip in a night just enjoying low end stakes and ridiculously cheap beers. Must have spent $100 a trip buying the $1 Michelob's/Becks at CR. Hoping they still have cheap bottled beer when we get there in March.

I agree. Let's see..Caesar's Palace, Harrahs, Bally's, Quad, Paris, Planet Hollywood are all owned by the same company.

Why would they allow a small reasonably priced competitor to exist right in their midst? Eliminate that competitor and you will have no choice but to pay their rates on that gigantic section of strip.

    It's pissin' me off.

Last year for March Madness I paid $440 for a room at Bally's, with no resort fee. This year it is north of $800. Someone has to pay for that big damn ferris wheel...........:grrr:

    Oh, I forgot Flamingo

So is it safe to assume tha no slots equals no vp as well? I heard they installed a good beer selection and being from Beer Mecca USA (San Diego), I was hoping they might have a few real craft beers up and free while playing VP at the bar top.

 It appears that they are serving Guiness from some of the pics and it's hard to find Guiness on the strip. I remember when Flamingo served it at the small bar next to the counters where you check in. Any idea what other beers they have at O'sheas other than Guiness ??

If they serve Guinness, do they comp it for table players? If I could get comped Guinness while playing $5 craps, I'd be in heaven.

    Guinness Side note:

They used to... Also Margaritaville Casino comps bottled Guinness while playing slots, or table games. During slower periods there craps table is $5. The waitress's are also nice to look at :licklips:

    Guinness can be found:

Aria (main casino floor) & the VP bar next to the sports book
Cosmo (VP bar book & stage)
    Golden Gate (VP Bar)
    Plaza (main casino floor)
    TI (VP bar)
Paris (main casino... athough that was a few years back in 2010)
Hooters (main casino & vp bar) can get it comped by playing $3 bj :drunk:

I'm sure there are a lot others too..
