    Hi all,

I am headed to the Orleans next week for 2 nights before heading back to the Strip. My friends land 24hrs later so I planned to pick up lots of snacks/food before they land as I live in the UK and the wife is sending me a shopping list, and once they land I won't get the chance to go shopping!

Where is the best/easiest/cheapest place to go? I'll be cabbing it there and back so don't need to take bus routes anywhere. It's my 2nd trip to Vegas.

There's a Walgreen's convenience store/pharmacy across Tropicana and down one block. It might have what's on your list. You could walk. Leave by the main entrance and turn right on Tropicana.

Yes there is a pretty good one there. Snacks, sodas, liquors. If you need a bigger selection(but no liquor) you can hit the Walmart at the end of the runway (eastern side on Eastern Ave.) before you go pickup your friend.

If you need more than what you can get at Walgreen's (at Decatur), you can continue a little further west on Tropicana to Jones. At that corner there is a Smith's AND an Alverson's grocery stores.

Combine it with a lunch at Black Bear Diner (in front of Smith's) and you'll have a real good reason to go that far.:licklips:

    ALSO ....

... within walking distance from the Orleans is the International Marketplace, on Decatur, just off of Tropicana.

There you cold find snacks/groceries from around the world.

Is that supposed to be Albertson's?

Go to vons.com and sign up for their free account and have them deliver it to you. First delivery is free. I did this in July while staying at Harrahs, after putting the order in, 3 days in advance, set up the time I wanted it delivered, between 5-6 PM and they arrived at 5:15. Delivery guy called my cell to meet him in the lobby. I read they normally just drop and dash but a $10 tip and the guy brought everything up to our room. Best $150 spent as we got snacks, fruit, alcohol etc for our week long trip to Vegas.

    Hope this helps.

I've eaten at the Black Bear, good food and friendly place. I'll go back.

I wish I could do this but I'm not sure what I want. I know what they want me to bring home - but I think it's better for me if I actually browse the shelves.

Thanks for all the hints - I'll probably head up to Walmart.

When I stayed near MGM Grand, I took the bus east, past UNIV OF nvlv and got off just after the Kentucky Fried Chicken, and went to the super Walmart. Just tell the bus driver you want to go there. I like to shop and if you buy more than a couple of items it will pay for your bus both ways. There are Walgreens everywhere and why not if they can get one-two dollars more per item for the convenience. I like Smiths as well, and found it a lot cheaper than Albertson's if it easy to get to. I think you can join their little shopper's club for free at the Courtesy booth and take advantage fo their specials.

Walgreens as suggested has quite a variety and is walkable (easy)

If you want to make a special trip to Walmart the head north on Decatur and it is on Decatur/Charleston junction, its closer and easier than the one on Eastern.

Ps I am also from the UK and was at the Orleans 2 weeks ago.
